Uppila the owner/host picked us up from the bus stop and he made our stay really enjoyable. Making connections with his family was a highlight. His wife cooked delicious Sri Lankan meals for us both breakfast and dinner, and catered to my friend's coconut allergy. We nearly didn't book this place because it was so cheap and we thought it might be substandard, however I can say it was just delightful, large basic room with mosquito net (no mossies in my room), a large big verandah looking out onto the garden. Uppila took us on a free guided night walk around his property to look for wildlife. Uppila booked our Ayurvedic massages, drove us there and waited. He organised a tuk tuk to the ruins. He was always up for a chat and we felt cared for. He was just so kind and friendly and open and honest. I feel privileged to have met him and his family. Stay here, you will love it!

I was traveling alone and this stay was absolutely incredible. The hosts provided amazing service and genuine care. They arranged a safari for me at a better price than usual agencies, picked me up directly from the accommodation, and came along as company so I wouldn’t feel alone and had someone to share the experience with. They also prepared a delicious lunch and dinner for me so I didn’t have to go out alone. Their kindness and thoughtfulness were truly heartwarming. The place has a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere – I felt right at home. Highly recommended, especially for solo travelers!

The space was new, and felt clean and modern, as well as cool. Our hosts were lovely, and gave us some great recommendations, as well as organising a fantastic safari tour for us to the nearby Kadulla National Park (where we saw hundreds of animals, including Elephants). The location is easy, just a 5 minute walk to the Ancient City. There’s also some great places to eat nearby - special mention to Mr.Punsiri's Kitchen which was delicious. The room was light and airy, and we had our own balcony to sit on which was great in the evenings. Overall we had a great time and would love to come back.

New Haven Polonnaruwa has been, by far, the best guesthouse I've been in my whole trip. The place is brand new, extremely comfortable and clean. It is also decorated with good taste. The exterior area, still under construction, is spaceous, and has a lot of possibilities. It has a traditional kitchen built in clay, and an area to have breakfast/lunch/dinner very cozy and nice. Congratulations to the chef! Food is so good! The owner, Iran, puts a lot of love on the project. Also he has shown me his amazing paddy field, we've collected coconuts together and do not worry if the place doesn't have a swimming pool (yet), because he took me to a canal for a nice swim very near from the place.

Nice air-conditioned apartments in a beautiful shady garden. The apartments are located close to the sights, the lake and shops, but far enough from the busy main street. The host was very attentive and willing to help us with anything and completely arranged a safari for us, including transportation. He also lent us bikes, which we used to ride around the lake one day and the next day to ride through the historical ruins. We spent 3 nights in the villa and it was a wonderful experience that we highly recommend to everyone.
