From the welcome of the host- who is such a sweet man- to the homemade breakfast by his sweet wife- I felt like I was staying at the home of family I had not seen in decades and they made me feel so welcome. What a beautiful oasis behind the gate- the perimeter garden is so lovely leading to every room - the additional outside seating areas were beautiful and sadly I was not there long enough to enjoy it. The rooms were clean, quiet and very comfortable. The breakfast was homemade and the extra buffet offerings gave so many additional options. What I loved the most was the Christmas decor- from the crocheted cutlery holders to the nativity scene- it was so warm and inviting! They even have a corner for the kids that is thoughtfully full of books and games. It is also so very close to the beach in a safe neighbourhood so this was also fantastic. Its a home away from home and I was so glad I chose this location to stay in Swakopmund.

The waterhole in front of our room was great entertainment with all the animals that went there to drink. The game drive was a lot of fun. Peaceful and beautiful.

Located in the centre of Old Swakopmund, The Secret Garden Guesthouse offers simply decorated rooms overlooking the garden. It features a sun terrace. What a secret garden indeed. Great security and the rooms arranged around an internal courtyard were very well equipped and thought through. Our suite with terrace was a self catering apartment; very comfortable with a little lounge and kitchen. Inga was most helpful and booked us into a local restaurant for dinner. There were many lovely pieces of art reflecting her parents as gallery owners. Highly recommended for a stay in Swakopmund which deserved more than a night to explore. Our vehicle was also secure in a parking lot opposite the hotel. Location was great near to the centre but very quiet at night.
