Every morning, you would wake up to a peaceful view of the lake, plus a well-cooked breakfast (try the egg pizza!) The rooms are wonderful, authentic, and full of patterns (a big YES for maximalist) Mr Firdous knows EVERYONE you need, so he is ready to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. If he cannot help you with that, he will get you the rightest guy for you. As someone who had stayed 2 weeks before staying Veena Palace, I can say finding dinner is challenging in Srinagar, especially if you live on a houseboat. Worry not because his wife is a wonderful cook who performs art with skill and heart. I tried some dishes from the elaborate Kashmiri wazwan, and I cannot recommend enough the crispy rib and the fish curry. The meatball was mashed to perfection; chewy and juicy. I personally learnt so much about heart-to-heart connection, which is something considerable for solo travellers in India, thanks to Mr. Firdous. My words cannot describe enough for my wonderful stay with Mr. Firdous on his houseboat.

They are easily accessible from ghat 1, and a free shikara service is available from morning till night, making transportation convenient and hassle-free. The service at Mascot is exceptional, with waiters stationed in each boat who prepare and serve all meals, snacks, and tea. The food is delicious and feels like a home-cooked meal. I particularly enjoyed the lotus root curry and apricot curry, which are local seasonal specialties and were both incredibly flavorful. Staying on Nigeen Lake was a peaceful and serene experience, with spectacular views all around. It offered a quieter stay compared to the bustling Dal Lake, which was exactly what I was looking for. The highlight of my stay was the 2-hour wetland tour, where I got to experience local lake life and wildlife that thrives in the heart of the city. It was a truly memorable experience that I would highly recommend. Despite choosing the cheapest room option, I felt like I was receiving first-class service. The staff and management at Mascot Boats were incredibly welcoming and always ready to chat about the history and richness of Kashmir, adding to the overall experience. The wifi in our boat was low at times, however this did not bother us as our surroundings kept our time full. Do expect power cuts every now again, but that it to expected across the Kashmir region, and the staff make sure to keep essentials like hot water available. Overall, my stay at Mascot Houseboats was fantastic, and I can't wait to return with my family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in Kashmir. - Zain and Euri

Boasting ski-to-door access, Chicago Houseboats is located in Srinagar. The property is located at Dal Lake, 0.5 km from Nehru Park and 3.1 km from Lal Chowk Ghantaghar. A first class house-boat , second time ( and not the Last ! ) we are staying 5 days at this exceptional and authentic place . Everything ( staff , food , rooms , dining and sitting-room ) is great . The manager , Ajaz , is very helpful and can perfectly organize your stay in Kashmir.

The speciality of the house boat is its location which has a full view of the Dal lake from our room window. Special thanks to the Hospitality provided by Ibrahim Bhai. He took care of us like his family. He helped us in renting bike, Shikhara ride and provided guidance throughout our trip and even before our arrival to Kashmir. We will definitely stay again with them. We are grateful and highly recommended.
