Situated within less than 1 km of Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple and 3.5 km of Alleppey Lighthouse, Kalappura Houseboats & Tours features rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Alleppey. The property features lake and river views, and is 4.5 km from Alappuzha Railway Station. The boat has family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. I was a little worried about our stay on the houseboat as there are so many to choose from. However, as soon as I stepped on the boat I knew I had made the right decision. It is spotless and tidy. It is well kept. The owners met with us both to share the history of the houseboats and the local area. We had a wonderful cook and captain who took care of us throughout our stay. We were on a one bedroom boat which I highly recommend and we paid an additional fee for a trip down the narrow side canals the next morning: you must do this as you see local village life. The bed is enormous and all clean and comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this houseboat again. There are many on the water but many are large and not well maintained. This boat is very clean and offers a more authentic experience.

Located in Alleppey, Why Not Houseboat offers accommodation with seating area. There is a private entrance at the boat for the convenience of those who stay. The boat also provides free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. The experience far exceeded our expectations - it was simply incredible. We met our crew on arrival (captain, two chefs and service provider), all of who were lovely. The boat itself was only 5 days old and very luxurious, from the dining room, to the bathrooms and bedrooms. What truly makes this boat special though, and sets it apart from other house boats, is the unique top deck. The top deck had comfy furniture and areas to sit in the sun or in the shade. The design allows the airflow to keep you cool as the boat sailed. We opted for 3 days, 2 nights and were glad we did so. This allowed us to sail down quieter backwaters on the second day and to see local life as we went past (most house boats that do just one night take the same busy route). The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, much of it Keralan cuisine. You won't regret booking with Why Not, we considered it excellent value and a truly special experience. We can wholeheartedly recommend.

Spice Coast Cruises - Houseboat, A CGH Earth Experience is located in Alleppey, 46 km from Cochin Shipyard, 12 km from St. Andrew's Basilica Arthunkal, and 14 km from Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. It is set 46 km from Kochi Biennale and provides luggage storage space. There is free private parking and the property offers paid airport shuttle service. The highlight of our Kerela Holiday. Excellent service from all concerned. Our 3 boat staff were exceptional. Captains Joshy and Thankachan were so friendly, helpful, and informative and the chef Reji was a brilliant cook and fed us so well ( the Thali meal was the best we had in India). The converted rice barge was beautiful and comfortable ( aircon too) and they took us to loads of lovely and quiet places. Doing 2 nights is better as you see more natural places and quiet backwaters. It was also really good value and they took us to loads of places ( and on a small boat tour, to a church and cycling) and loads of food ( including afternoon tea and snacks).

Xandari Riverscapes are a fleet of house boats which sails along Vembanad Lake and in the backwaters of Alleppey. The houseboats are docked near Pallathuruthy Bridge.

The traditional houseboats, called "kettuvallams" have wood harvested from local jackfruit tree plantations, hand-stitched by local craftsmen with coconut fiber rope. The experience far exceed our expectations. The boat house we stayed at was a beautiful blend of tradition and comfort, the rooms had a massive window so you can see the water and views while resting, and the deck with the lovely seating on the second floor became our favorite spot to hang out and take in the beautiful scenery. The staff were also exceptional and went out of their way to ensure we had the best time. Mahesh, the chef made the best food we’ve had on the whole trip. Venu, the crew was so kind and of course the captain, Pradeep! We did a two night stay and I can’t recommend that enough. As part of the stay, they also offered canoe rides through the village, a stop at one of the oldest churches, seeing a woodcarving workshop and doing a little shopping and daily stops at areas where you can walk around.

Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is 31 km away and Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is 31 km from the boat. MAHARANI - Beautiful traditional style boat in a peaceful location with local life to view whilst cruising. The ‘Captain’ Manoj and his assistant Geethu together with our chef and Adie who waited on us all day were amazing. We got off the boat and purchased tiger prawns and calamari from the locals en route and our chef cooked these to perfection together with a total ‘banquet’ of delicious local dishes. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Pure decadence and excellent value. Lastly a huge thank you to Alush M (Front office manager) who organised us from instructions to finding the resort to offering us all the services the resort has to offer and ensuring our stay was perfect. Highly recommend this trip!
