I was a little worried about our stay on the houseboat as there are so many to choose from. However, as soon as I stepped on the boat I knew I had made the right decision. It is spotless and tidy. It is well kept. The owners met with us both to share the history of the houseboats and the local area. We had a wonderful cook and captain who took care of us throughout our stay. We were on a one bedroom boat which I highly recommend and we paid an additional fee for a trip down the narrow side canals the next morning: you must do this as you see local village life. The bed is enormous and all clean and comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this houseboat again. There are many on the water but many are large and not well maintained. This boat is very clean and offers a more authentic experience.

We met our crew on arrival (captain, two chefs and service provider), all of who were lovely. The boat itself was only 5 days old and very luxurious, from the dining room, to the bathrooms and bedrooms. What truly makes this boat special though, and sets it apart from other house boats, is the unique top deck. The top deck had comfy furniture and areas to sit in the sun or in the shade. The design allows the airflow to keep you cool as the boat sailed. We opted for 3 days, 2 nights and were glad we did so. This allowed us to sail down quieter backwaters on the second day and to see local life as we went past (most house boats that do just one night take the same busy route). The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, much of it Keralan cuisine. You won't regret booking with Why Not, we considered it excellent value and a truly special experience. We can wholeheartedly recommend.
