I lived the old colonial time house, which was transformed into the hotel. Renovation is really well done which preserves the spirit of the building and is very atmospheric. Emmanuel, chef of staff is very friendly and helpful. He also makes great cocktails! Best place to stay in Sao Filipe.

Maybe my favourite stay in Cape Verde. Everything was clean and my room was spacious and comfy, and even had a balcony. As far as I could tell all three rooms overlook the sea, looking towards the island of Brava where the sun sets. Stunning views. Easy walk into the centre of town. Albino was so accommodating - helped me arrange various trips / transport, let me do some very basic cooking in the kitchen, you can help yourself to beers, water etc for a good price, breakfast is nice too. Just a warning that when I was there it's not in the exact same location as Google maps shows it - fortunately some guys gave me directions, and Albino actually spotted me walking from his truck, and gave me a lift to the right place!

Loved this place, very large apartment, very clean and comfortable. Lovely friendly hosts. Arranged airport transfers and a tour for us, even came down and offered us food. Very close to the centre of Sao Filipe with nice sea views as well. Very cosy place to stay.

The landscape is nothing short of spectacular—hardened black lava, rugged volcanic terrain, and an ever‑present view of the majestic volcano create a surreal and immersive experience. The funco structure—a traditional Cape Verdean circular house—is thoughtfully built with sustainability in mind: pallet furniture, rainwater harvesting, reused water for plants and toilets, solar panels for electricity, and solar‑heated water. Every morning, a freshly prepared breakfast by Restaurant Isabel was delivered directly to my room—sweet and savory pastries, fruit, and juice—luxurious in its simplicity. My hosts, Léa and João, were absolutely wonderful. They welcomed me warmly from the moment I arrived, with genuine kindness and a sense of caring that made me feel instantly at ease. João is a guide, ask him for hikings! I also want to highlight the friendliness of every person I met in the area—they were open, warm, and made this journey feel safe and connected. At night, I would gaze up at the stars from my cozy funco—the sky, completely free of light pollution, felt like a universe unfolding just for me.

This was the best and by the way also the cheapest accommodation at CV. Basic but very nice and clean room with running water and electricity. WiFi was strong and very well working in the dining area, we could also catch a weaker signal in our room. There was always a plenty of food. Breakfast is included and makes a perfect start of the day. Dinner is extra, it’s cheap and really good. The staff is unbelievably helpful and can help to arrange the transportation, the guide and anything else.

Ciza e Rose is situated in Portela and offers a garden and a shared lounge. The property has mountain and city views.

Reasonable price, clean room and very welcoming and helpful host Rose. Basic but decent breakfast (I ask it to serve at 6am before the hiking Fogo, and it was there exactly at time). The wifi is available outside the house, 20 metres in front of the hotel, close to the restaurant

What a great place! The location, the friendly, attentive, multi-lingual staff, the food, the beautiful patio, the piece and quiet, the view ... We LOVED it! Good starting point for various hikes. Highly recommend! Know before you go: water is rationed, but still plenty to clean up properly ;) The accommodation's restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, snacks for take away, dinner and drinks. All at fair pricing considering the location. Credit card payment is possible (foreign cards with a 3% fee). For those sore after hiking, you may even book a massage.

Situated in Portela in the Fogo region, Pensao Zé Doce has a garden. This bed and breakfast offers a bar. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service.

The hospitality of Sonia and Ze is unmatched. You will feel at ease here. Sonia’s food is fantastic and to be enjoyed with a glass of homemade wine. Ze’s brother is an excellent guide, fluent in French and English.
