It’s a really nice place where you could experience the traditional Siwa house. And it’s really close to fortress where you could go to see the sunrise and sunset in 5 mins walking. The stuff Mohamed Sulinan is really friendly and talkative, and gave a lot of useful information to me. Also he shared his artwork of Chinese characters with me, which is done with great care! I strongly recommend this place!

The camp is very special and different from others. In a positive way. It combines the short way to the centre of oasis and 5 min to go up the sand dune and watch the sunset over the Sahara desert. The owner Ahmad is a great man to talk to and he cooks very good breakfast and an amazing dinner. And I am really picky with the food. There is a hot spring that is fantastic. You can also book the desert safari with the great guide right in the hotel. This is highly recommended and the price is good.

I was originally supposed to only stay one night at Paloma Lodge from 6 Nov to 7 Nov, but because I enjoyed my stay here so much, I decided to extend for 4 more nights, only checking out on 10 Nov instead. Paloma Lodge is very well located, with only about 5 mins’ walk away from Siwan town centre where all the restaurants, cafés and shops are located. Apart from that, it’s only a stone’s throw away from a fresh water spring, where it’s perfect for an early morning or mid-afternoon swim. The host, Captain Nair, is super kind, warm and hospitable! He made me feel very welcomed and because I was a solo female traveller, he would check on me when I’m out later in the evening. In fact, he invited me to dinners at the lodge with lovely meals, either prepared by the good Captain himself, or his lovely housekeeper, Safie! The lodge is very tastefully decorated and kept very clean. The one-room apartment that I stayed in was very cosy and was sufficiently equipped with kitchen appliances, such as; electric kettle, toaster oven and a fridge. I will definitely stay at Paloma Lodge again, when I come back to Siwa!! It was a very enjoyable and cosy homestay which felt like you are with family. A home away from home.

It was my first time in Siwa and staying at Tanirt Ecolodge made the trip unforgettable. The ecolodge is built in the traditional Siwan style, simple but full of character, and it feels completely in tune with the desert around it. My room was clean and comfortable, with the kind of quiet you can’t find anywhere else. Meals were homemade, fresh, and delicious. As a solo traveler, I really appreciated how the staff were kind and helpful without being intrusive. Evenings under the stars, with nothing but the sound of the desert, were the highlight for me. This is the kind of place you come to if you want peace, authenticity, and a real connection to Siwa.

Beautiful place with private hot spring. You can sit at the fire in the evening, enjoying the guitar. Friendo is a very kind owner. He takes good care after you, preparing fresh breakfast. You also can make tours with him, showing you the beauty of Siwa. I stayed 4 days and Friendo became a real friend, he makes you feeling at home. Hospitality at it’s best. Host made sire that everything went well. When we asked for a washing machine, we received a new one. Took us with his friends and had lunch all together. Will never forget this locals experience and will definitely come back.
