Everything was perfect. Family and staff was incredible friendly and very helpful. The trekking was amazing. I saw a lot of animals in the jungle. The Bungalows are beautiful. The area looks like a botanical garden or park: many trees, flowers, plants, a small lake. I had at my disposal a house with a private cooking area, a shower/toilet, a large room and a bedroom. The kitchen had the necessary utensils and a gas stove. The rooms have a wardrobe, a table, a coffee table, a sofa and two beds. There was a lot of space for me. There was also a table outside the house in front of the entrance. The hosts are very friendly and helped with many of my questions regarding the organization of my trip. While I lived there I ordered breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee there. In my opinion, this is a great place to stay, one of the best places I have ever lived while traveling.

I had a wonderful stay at Grandma guesthouse. Stayed for 3 nights, went on a multi day trek and then returned for one more night. My return felt like coming home. Yusuf and his family are very warm and welcoming, and will go above and beyond to make you comfortable. Organising the trekking and onward travel with Yusuf was super easy and very well organised. He also has a school for underprivileged children, which I went to visit and helped to teach English and played badminton with them. The girls also practise traditional dancing in the Warung connected to the guesthouse (which serves really cheap and tasty local food), so by staying here you will experience more than just the jungle, but also get an insight into the local community. A great experience that I’ll never forget. Thank you Yusuf and family!

Martin and his staff were extremely warm and welcoming. I ended up having all my meals there and boy was I in for a treat. We went out and did some karaoke and a whole list of activities. There was a guide for each adventure. His guides are good and happy people.

Lovely place ran by a very nice family and their team in a peaceful little village not far from Bukit lewang. They arranged my jungle Trek as soon as I arrived which was perfect. Waking up to rice fields and mountain views, what more could you wish for?

    I ended up staying at the other building the owner has that’s further up the street due to availability. The room was perfect, with an ensuite and fan and a really lovely balcony with a view overlooking the village. It was called ‘Dina.s’. I highly recommend staying there- the owner and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. I think this location is actually nicer than the main building people stay at beside the river.

    There was nothing we didn’t like. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated room, amazing tropical garden, delicious food in the restaurant, the well organised and executed overnight tour into the jungle (yes, we were lucky to see orangutans in the wild) But it is the people working at the Orangutan discovery villa that made our stay unforgettable - highly hospitable, accommodating, genuine in every way. If we are ever to go back to Bukit Lawang it will be the this place.
