Value of money. The included dinner and breakfast are out of my expectation. The quality is equivalent to the similar onsen hotel which the price is double.

If you are travelling around Shikoku island, please make sure to stop at this place. We consider it as a hidden gem of our journey due to the accommodation, very helpful and nice father-son duo and things you can do and visit in a vicinity. It is a perfect location for 1-2 day stay. What we really appreciated was traditional house setting. You can sleep either on tatami beds or western beds. We chose tatami as we were looking forward to this experience. We were not disappointed at all. The whole house is very spacious with a beautiful front garden, and the bathroom is fully equipped with all amenities. There is also a common space downstairs. Wifi is very strong and rooms have AC. Family mart is a 5 minute walking distance from accommodation. I would recommend this accommodation for travellers who are looking to experience something traditional. Adding a few photos from our trip in Kan-onji. We had a great time 🤩.

I drove in my journey. It's nice that a free parking slot was provided. The location is very close to many tourist spots. The owner was very friendly that he provided me lots of infomation about Kagawa.

A traditional Japanese house that sat empty for years was bought by the neighbour and he and his son remodelled as a guest house. It still has the wood fire oven and traditional rooms but is brought up to date with A/C in individual rooms and wifi. The house is very secure with a coded front door lock and individual key room locks. I cycled around the neighbourhood, it was so lovely. I didnt bring any dinner so Yano-san, 85, took me to his recommended Udon Shop for the feed of a lifetime (see photos). No fuss, just being nice. The kitchen and bathroom are brought up to date with all the mod-cons. I’d stay again.

Lovely 100 year old farmhouse, plenty of room for six of us, but we only used the downstairs area. We had hire cars so easy to get to and check out the local area. Host spoke English and gave us some recommendations of where to go.

The host was very helpful to give us best times to see the famous mirror pool effect and show us a map to see all the scenic points at the peak. Very clean and the tatami was very comfortable like a rubber mattress, good pillows and quilts that are light and comfortable

Loved the bathtub. Also the art cafe next door was the highlight of our stay. We had a wonderful time staying here while enjoying the cafe.

After a busy week exploring Japan’s major cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, my father, uncle, and I were looking for a quieter, more authentic experience—and this beautiful traditional guesthouse in Miyoshi, Shikoku, turned out to be the perfect choice. The house is a charming two-bedroom traditional Japanese home with tatami rooms that truly capture the spirit of old Japan. I’ve stayed in similar homes before and always loved their unique atmosphere, but for my father and uncle, who were visiting Japan for the first time, it was both a fascinating and fun experience. Since we’re a tall family, adapting to the lower door frames, smaller room heights, and the cozy, compact design of the house added an extra layer of adventure. It was a great way to experience firsthand how people lived in the past and to appreciate the traditions and culture behind this style of living. The house itself was very clean, cozy, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The small garden added a peaceful touch, and the kitchen made preparing meals easy whenever we didn’t feel like eating out. The owner was incredibly kind and responsive, always quick to answer our messages and provide anything we asked for. Miyoshi is a quiet town, but it has everything necessary for a convenient stay—two large supermarkets, several restaurants, and even a Lawson convenience store just around the corner. I highly recommend renting a car to explore the surrounding area, as Shikoku’s natural beauty—with its mountains, rivers, valleys, and temples—is best experienced at your own pace. In the end, what makes this house truly special is its calm atmosphere. It’s not a place filled with distractions, but rather a peaceful and comfortable space waiting to be filled with life, laughter, and meaningful memories. Whether you visit with friends or family, this guesthouse offers the perfect setting to slow down, reconnect, and experience a more authentic and heartfelt side of Japan.
