The breakfast and dinner were amazing. We also got to choose our own yukata to borrow. The staff assisted us the best way they could and made us feel extra welcome. We got to experience a private onsen and visit the different public onsens which were amazing. We wanted to relax and got exactly what we needed.

There are too many good things to say about Kobayashiya. The staff was very welcoming and helpful - they even helped us when we couldn't figure out our yukatas. Our room was spacious and comfortable - but the best part is that it had a small porch overlooking the street/canal area where everyone was walking to and from the onsens. We only stayed for one night, but we wish we could have stayed here for 2 or 3 nights.

Beautiful Ryokan with amazing staff (most of whom spoke English) who bend over backwards to make your stay special. We stayed in a room with western beds which were really comfortable and the room was immaculate. Breakfast and dinner were spectacular - so much high quality food and a big variety (we did struggle a bit with the Japanese style breakfast, but it was just very traditional food which our western palates weren't accustomed to). The onsens in the hotel (regularly switched between male and female so everyone can enjoy) are lovely, and the rooftop one is beautiful. Such a special stay and I can't compliment the staff enough.

We were there for our honeymoon and loved pretty much everything about our stay there. The property is so well renovated with clear wooden floors, the rooms are impeccably clean, the staff and especially Iwasaki-San took such good care of us. And the food is excellent, we got to discover even more Japanese specialties. We will remember this trip forever!

Nishimuraya Honkan is an absolutely superb ryokan and amongst the top ryokans I have visited across many onsen towns in Japan. We stayed 3 nights. The atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful, the staff and service top notch, and the food is exquisite. Not all staff speak fluent English, but we had no issues communicating. We had the half board so dinners are served in our room while breakfasts are in a common room, with different menus every day. Every meal was meticulously prepared and a feast. We had the large Japanese style Horai room that had an open air bath (as well as open air shower - some may find it a bit cold in cooler months but it was fine for us in Spring), which was very enjoyable and relaxing. Don't miss the coffee/tea/juice area on the first floor that looks out to a lovely garden, and taking a walk in the garden to see their beautiful koi fish. Although the ryokan is about a 12 minute walk from Kinosakionsen Station, there is a bus from the station that can take you directly to the ryokan, and we were also able to get on the hotel's shuttle back to the station when we left. An amazing and highly recommended experience that's not to be missed if you ever visit Kinosaki Onsen.

Very clean, comfortable accommodation in a historic building with wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts. Laundry facilities are available. Dinner was a large amount- three dinners was more than enough for four people. The breakfast was also large and extravagant.. keep in mind they eat whole fish for breakfast in this country ;). the village is beautiful and the beach is completely empty. The property is literally a quarter of a block from the beachfront.

I really enjoyed my visit to Takeno, a quiet, traditional fishing village. The guest house was simple but really lovely, and spotlessly clean, and Keisuke made sure I had everything I needed. The sashimi set for dinner was the best I have had in Japan - fish fresh straight off the dock. It was also really relaxing to hang out downstairs in his bookshop bar. All round a great experience.

Located in the small village right by the the sea with a small secluded sandy beach outside the window with only one local road between the inn and the beach. The food is delicious! The service perfect! The helpfulness is exemplary - they both picked us up and dropped us off by car at the Takeno station a few km away. The room was large with a great view of the sea from the sitting area by the window. The house's bath is good - of course.

We loved lots of things about this property from the warm, attentive owner and staff to the facilities and the location. Our tatami room was super clean and modern with a traditional feel. It’s located at the edge of the village and easy walking distance to the onsens, restaurants and shops. The owner welcomed us personally, gave us tips on the onsen to visit, recommended restaurants and made a reservation for us. He even drove us to the station when we left. The on-site cafe is a bonus with a very good breakfast and great coffee.

There is a lot to like about this hotel, from the spacious contemporary styled tatami rooms, the friendly and attentive staff and the breakfast with exceptionally good coffee! This property had a perfect blend of service without feeling too intrusive - which is a real skill. The location is also perfect as it’s located just on the edge of this small village with everything within walking distance. For this price point, staying at Utsuroi Tsuchiya Annex is a no brainer. Highly recommended!

My stay included a fantastic Japanese breakfast served in my room, access to their Onsen, and a pass to the other 7 onsets in the village (1 onsen is closed everyday in rotation). Family and staff running the ryokan were incredibly friendly! Before starting the check-in process, I was able to observe the tea ceremony. It felt extra special since the ceremony was performed by the owner's mother. The owner helped take many pictures for me outside of the inn and on the street! I was especially appreciative since I was travelling solo!
