we can only spend good words for Retro. we stayed there twice in the span of six months and will keep coming back whenever in Kampot. the original owner, Alain, set the ground for a magical setting which is now run buy Monika and her lovely family staff. Monika doesn’t just accommodate any of your needs —she anticipates them. she is the most welcoming, caring, fun host you’ll ever get to meet. everyone here works hard to always make sure you have access to all you can possibly wish for: delicious home-cooked food, daily room service, motorbikes, bicycles, kayaks… and big smiles.

A stunning place if you are staying in Kampot! - Great value for money (probably the best room I've stayed in during my trip in Cambodia). - The staff always welcome you with a big smile. - Spacious room, with private bathroom, a fridge, a kettle, a small balcony and great air-con. And the room was very clean! - The location is very quiet so you'll have an amazing sleep. Having said that, it's only a 10-15min walk to the Durian roundabout / centre of town. It's even closer to a lovely pond and the southern part of the riverside, which had an amazing night market when I went there. - I liked it so much (as well as the Kampot area) that I extended my stay.

We chose to stay here because of the excellent reviews, and it did not disappoint! Mr Leng was amazing! He was such a hospitable host who took time out of his day to show us around the island and the city. His wife's cooking was delicious, and the bungalows are absolutely perfect. We only had one night here and wish we could have stayed longer. It was absolute bliss while it lasted! If you're visiting Kampot, stay here! You won't regret it.

Absolutely gorgeous property with amazing staff. We were not aware of this when booking, but they have a chef who comes over to cook for you at night. We were extremely lucky and there were no other guests on the property, so we had the swimming pool and shared kitchen all to ourselves.

This stay was so far the best experience we’ve had in Cambodia and our SE Asia travels so far. Where do I even begin… the price/value of the place is fantastic for the private room. The restaurant is so accommodating and the food is delicious. I had the lentil chilli one night and it was amazing! The breakfast served here is also lovely. The place has a nice games room and there is also yoga classes on-site for a small fee. I did two classes with Ian and Aoife and I can say as a beginner both classes were the best I’ve taken. Location is ideal as it is a short walk to restaurants and bars. The staff can help you book tours and buses too and are super welcoming and nice.
