Holiday Rentals in Castro Verde

On my 1,000-kilometre round trip through Portugal, I was glad to have discovered a bicycle hotel along the way. No, the hotel is not only very nice for cyclists, but it is particularly nice for them. At the end of November, I was actually the only guest. Suzanna had already contacted me in advance by phone and then by WhatsApp and sent me the access codes as a precaution. However, she received me in person upon my arrival. We had a nice and also a bit longer conversation. I felt very comfortable and almost like family. The hotel has a very unique and pleasant atmosphere, both due to its location on a pretty little street and its ambience. You can follow the owners' great bicycle adventure trips on the maps on the wall and get a bit excited about them. My room was very cosy and I fell asleep very quickly after a strenuous day's cycling. The next day, I received the most delicious breakfast on my fortnight-long trip through Portugal at the time of my choice (I was able to choose a ‘menu’), a really very "sofisticated" porridge with persimmon and matching spices. Delicious and a good source of energy for the mountain stage to Faro that day. During my search for possible tour recommendations for unpaved roads, I found the homepage of the gravel race (https://www.gravelbirds.cc/) with a route recommendation. I couldn't use it very well for me because my direction from north to south didn't fit well with it. But the pictures on the homepage got me in the right mood in the last few days before the start of my trip. It was perhaps no surprise that the hotel owners are also the co-organisers of this race. As a small ‘compensation’ I received several route recommendations (sent digitally) for the further route in the beautiful surroundings and was really very grateful for that. Would I like to come back? Yes, definitely.

Several different things to do, nice staff and comfortable rooms

Cheap high quality room, well equipped especially considering the price. Had a super comfortable bed. The host was really nice and welcoming, breakfast was good and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. If you're looking for a nice rural place to stay for a while, this is a great choice

Everything. The strawberries and brambles. Fresh Oregano. Attention to detail in the utilities provided, kindness of the hosts and lovely atmosphere in the entire place. Its 10 min from Castro Verde if one fancies a night out. Best sunrise in Southern Portugal.

Everything. The house was absolutely charming and well equipped. The village is quaint and quiet. Our entire party slept comfortably in the beds. Cool weather was happening but there were heaters and a fireplace to keep us warm. If I didn't live so far away, I'd love to stay for weeks.

A well kept secret? Casa no Moutinho! Wondering why you are traveling to the House of Hope? Catarina is the answer. If it's not for the harmonious lines of the swimming and sunbathing area in the balanced garden, all designed by herself, then maybe it's because your day starts with a very delicious and fresh breakfast in a basket, which Catarina prepares and delivers to you every morning before she leaves to teach art classes! No unruly spring mattresses, on them beautiful linen bedding. Lovely ambience, in very carefully and tastefully decorated apartments, again by Catarina. This pure place in the beautiful Alentejo is an oasis of peace, beautifully and thoughtfully maintained. Lifelike illustration of things in space = events in time. Try it!

First and foremost I would like to convey a big thank you to Vanessa, the caretaker. A friendly, hardworking individual who always had a smile. This location was beyond my expectations and suited what I was looking for perfectly. Great place and I highly recommend

The hostess was exceptional, always there to help. Excellent breakfast. Large, comfortable room. The house is cosy. Wi-Fi is excellent.
