Food portions were very generous, excellent wifi, and there was also free drinking water (instead of having to buy small bottles all the time). Ana helped with planning my hikes and organizing a guide. It's not too long a walk to Paul to catch the aluguers though it's important to keep in mind the island is huge and it takes time and money to get around. I regretted moving to another area b/c I really loved my stay here.

Guests can make use of the sun terrace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the mountain and garden. Location is flawless - on a quiet street, but just off the main road. Aluguars stop virtually opposite the property and are very frequent, both going up the Paul Valley and along the coastal road. There is a little mini market just around the corner, open until 20:00. The owner is super - helpful and able to advise on all the best walks in the area. He suggested a much better walk than the one we initially wanted to do; he had maps and suggested places to eat. The room was very comfortable, clean, and the balcony was a nice bonus. The kitchen area is really nice, half al-fresco. All the staff were lovely and kind and very helpful. The internet works fine - there are 2 networks to choose from. I was also very grateful to have access to a guest fridge in the kitchen area. We regretted cancelling one of the 2 nights we'd initially wanted to stay and only staying 1. For bonus points, there is also a little 8-week-old puppy :)

Large windows with the most amazing view The room was large was impeccably tidy and clean Belém was extremely welcoming and a very helpful. I would have been literally and figuratively lost on my upcoming hike without her. Breakfast including cachupa, bruschetta, yoghurt with (I think) oats, mixed fruit, cake and papaya jam was a perfect start of the day before going on a hike.

The villa consists of 3 bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and a coffee machine, and 3 bathrooms with a walk-in shower and a hair dryer. Towels and bed linen are offered in the villa. The property has an outdoor dining area. We were met by Lieve at the Ferry Terminal, she arranged a rental car and guided us to the villa (10 minutes from the Ferry Terminal). Lieve and Geert went out of there way to make our stay as comfortable as possibe. The Villa has been built by them with an eye for detail. The villa is very spacious, 3 spacious bedrooms, each with a toilet/bath room, in two of these rooms next to the double beds bunkbeds for two kids. In living room an additional seperate toilet on top. Also a spacious kitchen with everything you need. The swimming pool is covered every evening so it stays warm (28 Celsius). Very important in winter months, we were at some other places where swimming was only for the brave (24 C) or even unbarable (20 C).

Cesària Evora Airport is 66 km from the property. Casa BB&Djassi felt like home - with big thanks to the ladies who take amazing care of the house and their guests, Talyna, Djenny and Ana. The rooms are comfortable, the location great and it was just a happy place to be. I’m not the only one who extended my stay while there! Communication was also excellent - with the team accommodating my request for good internet in my room, as well as providing multiple options to work across the house. I’ll definitely be back. Towels and bed linen are available in the bed and breakfast. Plase is perfectly located, the ownes and the ladies that work there are very nice and helpful. Finally, the breakfast was excellent and complete to prepare for a hiking.

However, the shops in Ponta do Sol are really tiny, so if you're travelling by car I'd suggest to do your grocery shopping in bigger villages (e.g. we've found a relatively big shop in Ribeira Grande) or even before departing Mindelo, especially if you want to purchase alcohol. Anyway, if you don't want to cook yourself, there are several cafes/restaurants nearby, but I suggest to book the place for dinner in advance, as the best places are fully booked. Good wi-fi, plenty of parking place on the street nearby, key is left in the locker box, so you don't have to worry about time of arrival. The host is very sweet and helpful - she has sent all the precise instructions on whatsapp in advance and it was very easy to contact her anytime.
