Set 1.5 km from the town of Koli, Kolin Lotus Cottages are located close to Lake Pielinen. These self-catering, semi-detached cottages have a children’s playground and BBQ facilities.

Each cottage at Kolin Lotus Cottages has a private sauna, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and drying cabinet. A living room with a flat-screen TV, DVD player and fireplace complete the units. Free firewood is provided. It was much cosier than in the pictures and was spotlessly clean. This small resort functioned like a well oiled machine and the caretaker was on hand offering assistance/ taking conscientious care of ploughing the snow to aid our exit and entry to the property. It was very very cold when we visited and the snow was mounding up continuously, but there was firewood on tap and the sauna was wonderful. and the view/ position amongst the trees was just idyllic. The cabins are in the perfect location for visiting Koli national park; witnessing the crown snow load alone was worth the drive from Helsinki. For anyone doing the same be aware that driving in the snow can increase the predicted driving time by 1/3!

The rooms were actually just like in the pictures and were in good condition and spacious. The room had a stove and a dish washing machine, which was luxurious for the price. Really large bathroom and comfortable beds. The staff was always very polite and the place had a small bar/restaurant, that sold very decent pizza and Thai food from a buffet.

This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. We stayed 2 nights at Kolin Kolo, which was the best place we have ever lived in Finland. It was a really family-friendly place. For example, we could drive for 5 minutes to the top place to park from here; it offers heat system and sauna, it was private and secure. The kitchen was also excellent, it offers almost everything we need.

The contact person was easy to reach. It was super nice to swim in the lake after sauna. The pictures give a real picture of the house, extra plus for that.

We enjoyed pony trekking around the area and lovely to wake up with the ponies in the paddocks around our cabin.
