That kind of warmth and attention was felt throughout my stay. As a writer, the solitude here was everything. Quiet, peaceful, held by the land. I started a new book and spent hours each day writing, looking out over the beautiful property. And when I wanted to venture out, the nearby town of Amboise was perfect—walkable, welcoming, inspiring. You have to eat at La Fourchette (truly incredible), and visiting Château du Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years, is a must. I felt completely safe traveling alone in the area, and deeply inspired by this town built around a castle, right on the Loire River. Lodovica and Patrick upgraded my room, and it was honestly beyond special—a space I’ll never forget. Already planning to return in the next few months to experience spring!

The apartment is in the city center, but it was surprisingly quiet. We slept with the windows open, and the courtyard is secured with a locked gate, which made us feel safe. The building itself is old and full of character, while the studio has a modern interior and all the essentials. We stayed for three nights and felt very comfortable and at home.

The property is non-smoking and is situated 5.1 km from Château de Chenonceau. It was a lovely place to stay. It is out in the country a bit, with nice grounds and easy parking. The owner and her daughter always went out of their way to exceed our expectations. For example when we ordered some wine, they made us a picnic outside to enjoy it. The daughter speaks English.

A recently renovated bed and breakfast set in Amboise, Chez Zabou features a garden. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is located 1.9 km from Château d'Amboise. We stayed here for 4 nights and would gladly return if coming to this area again. Madame Isabelle met us with a big smile and it was still there every day. The rooms were large, as big as some apartments. There was a small lounge/ kitchen area with frig. and kettle and a large lounge/diner big enough for 4 to 6. There were many magazines to read - obviously in French - tourist leaflets and advice on distances to a number of sites. Breakfast was good, just what we wanted, but we could have had more. We had a simple meal on our last day and it was delicious, with a glass of rosé as a gift. Mme. Isabelle was always available but never in the way!! A fount of knowledge and a most pleasant hostess. It was a short drive to the city and we found Parking Les Tanneurs very useful. It was a 3 minute walk to the town centre and it was free!!! There are plenty of restaurants just below the chateau and we used these. We found everybody we met extremely helpful. I have heart and back problems and used a stroller. If we came to steps very often people carried the chair up. A great help! As you can image we were very grateful. Obviously Mme Isabelle's charisma had spread to the locality.

Located in La Chapelle-sur-Loire, in a historic building, 7.5 km from Château des Réaux, Jacuzzi et Vue sur Loire - Maison d'hôtes L'Odyssée is a recently renovated homestay with a garden and shared lounge. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The homestay features a hot tub and a shared kitchen. The home is very beautiful and the hosts were the best! They were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, while also giving us our privacy. We had a lovely room on the third floor with a gorgeous view of the river and a very comfortable bed. We awoke to a delicious breakfast of fresh chocolate croissants, bread and apple juice all purchased by the host before we woke up. We also had delicious honey harvested by their neighbor as well as several homemade jams.They live in a darling small town with several restaurants and a gorgeous church. It was all PERFECT!!! I forgot to add that there is a beautiful rooftop jacuzzi!!!

Morgane was very sweet and super accomodating. She showed us around and had provided us with some delicious cheese, chilled water and milk in the fridge plus tea/coffee etc. She also offered a pop corn machine, with the pop corn of course and a foot bath machine with salts, to treat ourselves in the evening. All these small details are so welcome after a long drive. It's a short walk from the town and round the corner from a lovely river walk. We visited Château Chenanceau which was also just 10 mins away.
