My husband and I enjoyed our stay with Laura and Brian immensely. There we cookies, pastries, tea and coffee really available upon arrival and throughout our entire stay. For the self catered breakfast, there were lots of hot/cold cereals, breads, pastries (gluten-free options), juices, yogurts, local cheeses, and all the fixings. Each morning, Laura had scones or some other baked good heating in the oven. Heating your own food for dinner or eating take out was an option, too, which we took advantage of one evening. Our room was very beautiful, modern, and cozy with a very comfortable bed. The whole place was spotless. Laura suggested restaurants and places of interest off the beaten path. She was a gracious, thoughtful, wonderful host - some of the best hospitality on our month long trip! Thanks for everything, Laura. We loved our stay with you. Highly recommend.

The deck was great for sitting out and having dinner and taking in the fantastic views of the countryside! We loved that it was so quiet and peaceful. It had a really good combination of privacy in our room as well as comfortable common areas that made it feel like we were just staying with the family. Nicky was able to accommodate us for the guided tour (a later start time) and I'm so glad it worked out - the tour was one of my favorite parts of the overall trip to Scotland.

Very nicely decorated and well equipped little house right in the center of Kirkwall that felt like a home from home. I had my choice of the two bedrooms and opted for the back bedroom which was wonderfully quiet with a comfy bed and choice of pillows. The welcome basket was very generous and the price for two nights was very reasonable. It is surrounded by shops and coffee places. I fully recommend this to anyone as a great option to a hotel.
