We came to raja ampat to dive. The days in Raja Ampat is the most unforgettable vacation I've ever had, and the stay at Nyande was just beyond my expectation. Both in the facilities and the price performance. Upon arrival the bungalows and the elevated restaurant impressed me, you can just tell how meticulous the owner was and how much efforts he has paid in designing his place. Rooms were comfortable, food was nice. What significantly added to the value is the beautiful house reef and the mangrove tree at the middle of the rooms. Simply going snorkeling will get you stunned with the beautiful corel and many fishes. And the mangrove had surprises in store (we saw a big, color-changing cuttlefish under it, just as what we saw on tv). Going diving was also conviently arranged with nearby dive shops at reasonable price. I came here after a 10-day stay at a well-know resort in Gam Island. I'd confidently say Nyande is no less (or even more) amazing than that resort which is twice the price of Nyande. I won't write so much unless I truly feel pleased or even grateful to a place where I spent a few days. And Nyande and its owner Andy was definitely worthwhile me doibg so!

I have to give a special mention to the dive shop run by Will and Rufus. I was diving the first week with soul scuba, as I had a reservation and for the last 3 days I switched to turtle dive. Diving with Will and Rufus was just so much cooler and personal. Great rental equipment and they bring you to the good action packed dive spots. It was amazing, so if diving is your top priority in Raja Ampat dont hesitate and dive with Turtle.

The owners were extremely helpful with organizing trips, answering questions, giving advice on places to stay. The breakfasts were always delicious and varied. They were very knowledgable about the region and were well connected. They arrainged a good scooter at a fair price. A great first landing spot off of the ferry from Sorong. I have already booked my second stay when back from the outer islands to prepare for the return ferry trip. International travelers will be happy here.

Offering a terrace and a private beach area, Alter Native Stay is situated in Tapokreng. Free private parking is available on site. Some rooms include a seating area where you can relax. Closeness to nature, which is still unspoiled. Lots of birds, fishes and ofcourse the marine life that is easy accessible from PapuArts Alter Native Stay. Family feeling; easily to feel at home with this lovely family of four (Helga, Timon and their 2 beautiful young daughters who love to make friends). Oh, and I forgot their two sweet dogs Ringo & Dingo 🐾🐾 Owners are very helpful and speak several languages so easy to communicate with them. Internet is sometimes a bit unstable so take that into account when expecting speedy replies (sometimes it just doesn’t work and patience is a good thing to have). The food - home style cooking (breakfast, lunch and dinner are all cooked by the owner and her team and she is a great cook; we loved every meal which was perfectly catered to our vegetarian / pescatarian wishes) The rooms are close to nature as well, with very comfy beds (we stayed in both the smaller and the biggest family room, which easily fits 3 respectively 4 people; the 3rd bed in the smaller room has a wonderful treehouse feeling and there is a bunkbed in the biggest room). Hard to capture the beauty of the rooms in just one picture (I took several but could only post one here with my review). You can hear the sea and birds from your bedroom. It’s right next to you. No frills, just natural materials, which we loved. Also no warm water, but easily to get used to. There’s a shower and mandi style shower. Also your own toilet. Plus the blue blue sea right at your doorstep and a lovely sitting area with a hammock to complete the zen-feeling. There’s a long jetty into the sea with a perfect spot for exercise/meditation/yoga at the end. Fitness with a view! It’s quiet and feels very private. You instantly feel relaxed here. Different excursions to choose from, both on land and on/under the sea. Please note: these come at an extra cost and Raja Ampat area is not cheap!!!! What we loved the most: - The stunning, secluded location at the far end of Pulau Mansuar, offering a true escape from everyday life. - The incredible coral reefs just steps away from the lovely beach — perfect for snorkeling enthusiasts (sometimes stronger current but perfect for drifts) - The exceptionally kind and helpful staff, always ready to listen to any wishes or feedback and ensure a great stay. - Delicious food that catered to individual preferences, including vegetarian options, which was a real plus. - The fantastic diving experience with Vandy, an experienced, knowledgeable, and attentive dive guide, and his great team. - It was inspiring to see a place like this owned and managed by locals, creating a unique and authentic atmosphere. This is an ideal spot for travelers looking for a family-like, locally-run experience. Flexibility and understanding are key, as local conditions such as weather, fuel supplies, or occasional generator issues can arise. It's also important to note that the desalination plant might not fully meet water demands at all times, but rainwater is available upon request. For us, this was the perfect getaway, and we would absolutely love to return one day. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at Frances, what a exklusive and luxurios place. Just 2 wonderful and huge huts in great design, right on top of the reef and in the middle of wonderful original Kurkapa Village. Very friendly staff, excellent food (delivered by the kids of the family right to our huge terrace). What more can you ask for - an island paradise, with a wonderful house reef right in front of the hut. Lots of fishes and sharks living there. Hopefully we´ll be back soon! Katrin & Markus

Julia and MImi are the girls volunteering and they made the home stay the best home stay in all of raja! We heard horror stories of other tourists who had gone somewhere else and then come to Gibran and said Gibran was the best! These girls organised a day trip for us every day, took us snorkelling, swimming, island hopping every day!! They showed us all the fish, mantas, whales, orcas & sharks This was my favourite trip ever, and the girls made it 100% The accomodation huts are really nice and comfy, and the food was top notch! I will 100% be back for Julia and Mimi! The house reef is so nice, saw turtles, sharks all the fish every day! Even the dugong!!! So many stars , clean water, food, showers and a toilet !

I went diving for three days on the Pulau Gam and snorkeled daily on Friwen. They are about a 10 mins boat ride. The Homestay is rustic. There are two beds covered with mosquito net. They are totally fine but somehow one would get in every night. It’s an island at the equator, there are mosquitoes. Also geckos! That’s part of the adventure. The room has an interior slide lock and there’s a clipping lock with a key for locking when you’re away. Honestly I never locked my place. The island seems very safe. Kids playing, most of the folks on the island are involved in tourism, though they don’t speak much English. It wasn’t an issue. I traveled solo and spent most afternoons in the hammock, reading, writing or napping. The food was amazing, delicious, the cook is very sweet and calls you to breakfast, lunch and dinner. The fresh fish is caught daily. Vegetables and rice, very delicious and all included. Large quantities. Box lunches are available if you are diving all day. Bananas are snacks. Unlimited instant coffee, tea, hot water. The island is stunning. Sunsets amazing. The reef has more life to see while snorkeling than most places (Europe, Caribbean, US, Latin America) have to see while scuba diving! I saw turtles, squid, dolphins playing, reef sharks and millions of coral. A not about cash and other fees: you will need ~140,000 to take a ferry from Sorong to Waisai. Then you’ll need 600,000 to ride each way from Waisai to Friwen (this can be divided with others, provided there are other riders.). On Waisai, you’ll have to buy a Marine Park pass and an entry pass, in total 1,000,000. So you’ll need around 2,250,000 in cash (be prepared bc the pass can be purchased online, or card but sometimes their system is down and you have to pay cash). In Sorong airport there are four ATMs, most of them don’t work well. There are ATMs on Waisai but you have to ride a motorcycle to them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
