Our room was spacious, clean and our bed was extremely comfortable. We only had to share the upstairs bathroom with one other room, and it had hot water which was very much appreciated.. There’s a lovely balcony and common areas to relax and enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and water. The host is wonderful and truly went above and beyond for us - he allowed us to check-in very early and even cooked us breakfast the morning we arrived, he arranged our onward travel, provided free transport to the bus station and kindly packed some fruit for our journey. He can help you arrange a tour/guide, motorbike rental, find places to eat and visit. Our only suggestion is to be as clear as possible with your guide about what you are wanting to experience / see to avoid any disappointment. Unfortunately we missed a key day of the ma nene festival because of a miscommunication (which was partly our fault too.)

The traditional meal she cooked the next day was also great, chicken in bamboo. There is a full bathroom outside the house with a hot water shower, western toilet and two sinks - very clean. The traditional house would not be able to accommodate a bathroom in the building itself. This is an experience to stay in real Toraja house - it is not a fancy hotel - but it is great!!

The place is beautifull, i loved spending the end of my days just reading in the balcony watching over the rice field. The beds are confortable and clean. The breakfast is super tasty. But the best part of our stay were Imanuel and Kevin, father and son, and our hosts in their homestay. They will always give their best smile and effort to help you around, and they have such a big heart! I compleatly adore them both. Imanuel took us over some places to visit like graveyards, ricefields, and funeral ceremonys, always giving us the best explanations of the traditions and advise on how to behave and dress for the ceremonys. The two of them made our stay so very special and authentic. I will never forget this amazing days in toraja.

We had such warm and caring hosts during our stay! We were unwell, and they took such great care of us, which meant so much. Additionally, we arrived unexpectedly very early in the morning, and they welcomed us in without any hassle—something we really appreciated. The location is fantastic, and the rooms were beautiful and exceptionally clean. Thank you so much for everything!

Meyske and her mother are amazing hosts and the homestay is cozy and well decorated. It is designed to share some space and experiences with the other travelers. Meyske is an amazing guide to get to know Toraja and their traditions. She helps you make plans for the day to discover the area, but I would recommend a guided tour with her. We did 2 days and couldn't be more happy about our decision! Really informative, info well structured, unique experiences and a perfect way to get to know everything closely. Her english is great which also helps! The food Meyske and her mother prepare is the best! As vegetarians we have very few options eating out in Indonesia... They made different and delicious things so we decided to have dinner at the homestay every night!

This was one of the best places I’ve stayed in in my travels, hands down. It is basic, but proof that basic can also be excellent. Jacob & Yansen were fabulous hosts-cum-guides, the food choices were simple but tasty, & the whole atmosphere of the place, including my fellow-guests were wonderfully friendly. So glad I chose this over some place inRantepao proper where I would have felt in the middle of a city. Here we were in the real spirit of Tana Toraja, w Tongan’s a stone’s throw away.

Built in traditional Torajan style, Rura Raya Homestay is situated in Rantepao. The rooms here offers modern comforts and while maintaining the traditional decor. Good food good room good host and good environment, couldn’t ask for more 😃

It’s an excellent place to stay with our young family. It was in the middle of the city which make it easy to travel around town.

The guest house was a wonderful gem in the middle of Rantepao, conveniently located near all the Tana Toraja points of interest. I had a traditional Torajan home all to myself and it felt so special. The place was extremely clean, had all I needed. It is part of a typical Torajan family's compound. Aldi, the host went out of his way to help and assist me with everything. He even waited for us until late at night (and I felt horrible about it, because it was like 1.30 AM when I arrived), as I was driving from Makasar and arrived later than expected. He organized a 2 day tour with Mr. Ino (also recommended), who showed me around the main sights at VERY reasonable cost. The place was spotless, comfortable, and felt like I was in a documentary. Absolutely recommended. As for Tana Toraja.... it is a unique corner of our world. Make sure you spend at least 2 days there to see everything. Ask for Ino's services.
