Great location, smooth communication with the owners. They helped us navigate the town, including tips on food and coffee, and arranged a volcano tour with a very knowledgeable guide. When we came back from the tour in the morning, the breakfast was already prepared. The room and the surroundings are really clean.

We booked our Medan airport to Bukit Lawang transport and the jungle trek with them. From the time of booking till we left the place; Brian and his team were extremely helpful. Sarah cooked delicious dinner for the night. The place is value for money and they even provide good breakfast. Our tour guide for the forest trek was Rosyid & his assistant Theo. They were absolutely amazing and the best throughout. I could complete my trek on the last day because of their motivation throughout. We can't recommend them enough. The food that they served during trek was also really good. Rosyid and Theo went out of their way to help a random guy during the trek who was unwell and made sure to give him the medicines and took extremely good care of him till he got better and help arrived. It didn't matter to him if the guy was part of our group or no and that shows how professional and caring they are. Magic tricks by Rosyid at the campsite was very entertaining. There was also Manto who cooked extremely delicious dinner and breakfast for us and helped with the river tubing. Would definitely recommend staying at Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.

Place is nice and quiet and just a short walk to main part of town. Jungle trek was a great experience and his young helper Lana went out his way to make sure we had a great experience. Would highly recommend

I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a comfy and very convenient guesthouse. The staff is really kind and helpfull. They also organize great trekking tours to the jungle. And the location of the guest house is great. Right next to the river. From the terasse you can look down on the river and enjoy the village life.

From the first contact on everything was organized perfectly (transport from and to the airport, the trek, finding a group to treck with etc.). The staff is really nice, you feel like family there. They also invited me for dinner and we talked about many different things, like culture differences. I did a 2 day 1 night treck with Rian (Guide), Sarol (Assistant Guide) and Mawan (Chef). A very good experience with a lot of explanations and fun. The food was also delicious. You can see, that they have a lot of experience.

I stayed for 3 weeks at Batu Kapal and would recommend to others that they not just stay for a day before and/or after a jungle trek but enjoy this peaceful and beautiful location for multiple days. The primates (several monkey species and orangutans), butterflies, lizards and birds around the property provide frequent interest. When their isn't great wildlife in your view, the beautiful scenery will make you happy to be there.

Mery, the owner, went above and beyond for me. She took the time to sit down and draw me a map of the town with interesting touristic and local points. She also arranged to have my laundry done in under 24h since I was in a big rush. Mery continued to help me even after I was gone - I messaged her two days later to arrange a transportation and she helped me. The room in itself was very comfortable, with hot water and good AC. The rooftop view of the city was a perk! Finally, the banana pancake for breakfast was delicious ☺️
