We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nikaho - a great base for exploring (with a car) attractions in Tsuruoka and Sakata as well as views and waterfalls around beautiful Mt Chokai.

Super nice host who prepared special hot pot Kiritanpo Nabe which is super delicious with homemade grilled rice. Love the special dip for the crackers too. Were provided BBQ grill, charcoal for our BBQ. They also helped us buy Waygu beef from their regular supplier. We went to Wonder Mall at Kakunodate to buy BBQ stuff. Beef is cheap with great marbling. Host were very prompt in responding to all our queries. Highly recommended to stay here if you are in Akita.
