Such cute town right by Eiheiji, shouldn't miss it. The place is a traditional house with large volume of rooms and facilities. So special from the history and craftsmanship and kind hosts and stories they tell us if we catch them. People in town are so so friendly. Shy in the beginning but only 5 minutes after, like old relatives. Highly recommended to take time and stay chez Sakai!

Great place to stay, with the flavor of a Buddhist inn and the facilities of a 5* hotel. Excellent shojin ryori cuisine. We were a family and they prepared a private dining room for us. Quiet, invited to enjoy everything in a serene way. The Buddhist celebration experience was fantastic, a monk that spoke excellent English explained everything and we also enjoyed a 'private tour' to the Eiheiji. Nice onsen also. 100% recommendable overall.

Our stay at Yao-Kumagawa was an absolute delight. We’d let them know we’d be arriving late, and they kindly waited for us — even phoning to make sure we were on our way. That warm welcome set the tone for the whole visit. The house itself was exactly as pictured: charming, peaceful, and wonderfully relaxing. Nestled in a small, friendly community, it felt like a serene escape. Just next door is a fantastic little jazz kissa (café); don’t miss their “Magic coffee,” a treat worth savoring.

Located in the centre of Mikuni, a lovely seaside village in Fukui with a historic quarter. Mikuni Tsumesyo is located on the main street running along the axis, so it is conveniently located to everything you need. The house is truly amazing,, the photos do not do enough justice; gardens interior and design are all impeccable. I really enjoyed staying here but I wish could luve out of the house for an entire month.

Awara Onsen Matuya Sen Sen localiza-se em Awara, a 19 km de Phoenix Plaza, e fornece acomodações com um jardim, estacionamento privado gratuito, um salão partilhado e um bar. Getting there was very easy and easily accessible by a direct bullet train from Tokyo and then just bussing it up - they also have coaches available to take you to and from the JR station if requested. The room was amazingly clean and big - the food as well was very nice especially for a ryokan where the food can sometimes be a hit and miss. The public onsens were also very nice with amenities and drinks everywhere. The most impressive thing about our stay was definitely the service - everyone is very nice - we had Akira, who looked after us most and he was extremely kind and attentive during our stay. I usually dont think it makes a very large difference but this was something else. Last thing is we came on a Mon/Tues - which seems to be the quietest time for them, with maybe seeing around 6 or 7 other groups in total hanging around on Monday and a bit more on Tuesday - which we liked as the public onsens were basically empty if you came in the off peak times and the whole place was very quiet. Though there are alot of facilities catering for larger crowds inside the onsen and outside so if you do want a bit of atmosphere I would reccommend booking closer to the weekend. All in all our stay here was very nice and would definitely reccommend.

A real opportunity to stay in an old fashion house. Very comfortable. Perfectly outfitted.They have several locations in the city. Google maps shows only one house. Have to pick up keys some miles from Obama station--have to take taxi. But I had not read the instructions carefully. The instructions were clear and everything was fine. Taxi driver to key pick up was exceptionally helpful.
