We enjoyed the nearby onsen, which is free if you stay at one of the cottages. When we came back from the onsen in the evening, the staff started a bonfire outside that just enhanced the magical atmosphere. We found a couple of sweet potatoes in a plastic bag hung at our door handle and fully enjoyed roasting them in the bonfire. Such an amazing stay!

We got a room overlooking the river with our own private bath in the balcony. The other public baths were nice esp the outdoor one. The room was well thought out and immaculately clean. The best part was the food! Both the dinner and breakfast were kaiseki style and the presentation and flavors were amazing. The price was higher than we usually pay but it felt like a total value.
