The room was spacious, had a very nice bathroom with separate toilet and the cleanliness was exceptional. Very quiet also. There was a coin operated washing machine and dryer as well that was very handy. The location was nice, authentic Japanese neighbourhood with walking distance to the main shopping street.

Zen Kyoto Hotel and Apartment made our winter here super comfortable. The room is thoughtfully designed with everything you need for both short and longer stays. The kitchen is well equipped. Heating works well. There's a washing machine - there's no dryer but the bathroom has a dehumidifying clothes drying setting that dries your clothes in a few hours. Better than a dryer as it doesn't shrink your sweaters! The staff is lovely. The building is a short easy walk to the train station. Great value for money. We'd definitely stay again.

The dinner and breakfast is unlike anything I would typically experience as a westerner. Kyoto can be very intense sometimes, and this establishment provided us with an escape when needed.

He provided suggestions for things to do in the area. You could reach him through WhatsApp at any time. He provides free water and washing powder for laundry. He even offered to drive us to the train station when we were leaving, which we happily accepted. The rooms are clean and spacious and has all the basics you need. The hotel is also conveniently located by a quiet stream and easy to reach by bus and metro.
