Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is situated in Otsu, 10 km from Daigo-ji Temple, 11 km from Shoren-in Temple, as well as 11 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto. Everything was great. We were 1 short because of sickness, but we had already payed and I didn’t even think about asking for money back. But the women who greeted us insisted and talked to bookings so we could get some of the money back for the room. Even do it was the same room we used. Very good breakfast, they held a fun and educating tea ceremony. The room was nice and comfortable. And when we used their washing machine they asked if they could fold our clothes and bring it to our room so we didn’t have to wait for the laundry to be done. We have only good things to say about Inase Otsu Machiya and the staff.

You get the full japanese experience when you land including traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinners, the dinners are amazing so take the half board. The rooms are big, beautiful and facilitated and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. It is located about 15 minutes by train outside of Kyoto but if you like to leave the crowds behind at night it's worth the commute.

As a couple with tattoos we couldn't use the main baths but this was perfect. Used it in the evening after dinner and then again in the morning watching the sun come up. The room was large and comfortable. The food was excellent.

After returning from Biwaichi Cycling, we took a nap on the tatami mats and enjoyed BBQ in the garden for dinner. At night it was a pleasure to see fireflies in the brook just nearby. It looks like it can accommodate a few more people. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

The whole facility was excellent, especially the outdoor area with sauna, hot tub and fire.
