We had a large apartment with all modern facilities provided for 7 days. We were on the 10th floor with a wrap around balcony which gave us 280 degree views of the ocean, Kii Mountains and Shirahama town. The complex is very new so all accessories were in very good order. The bath for a Japanese facility was very large and thus used often. We chose this apartment complex because of it's location to the beach, supermarket and onsens. We especially enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves and everything necessary for that was provided.

J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Exceptional Guesthouse. I must thank the Manager (did not get his name) for refunding me for a night's stay as there was a change in plans. He was very, very kind. I loved the in-house onsen.

Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. Koyasan was my favorite place in our Japan trip. Minshuku Wago is truly an exceptional place! The owner is incredibly kind, and the hospitality was the best we've experienced. It was a rainy and chilly day, and the owner kindly asked if we would like to use the ofuro, we said yes, and the owner prepared everything perfectly for my husband and me. The room was spacious and clean, and we appreciated having access to laundry. They also provided three delicious meals, including a bento for our Kumano Kodo hike. We felt so well taken care of. highly recommended!

The location is very good. It’s near the bus stop and the convenience store. And if you wake up early like me and there’s no bus at that time, you still able walk to the Shingu station. The hostel has 4 bicycles to be borrowed with no charge. You can ride it around the city.

We wanted to have a traditional experience as such. We loved the atmosphere. It calmed us down very quickly. The entity is managed by very little stuff. But they do their best to serve the small amount of guests well. Therefore one feels very familiar and cozy. In order to embrace every detail we recommend to join the morning ceremony and to visit the onsen. As a vegetarian I had no problem trying the whole menu provided. One could see that it’s been made with love. The rest of my family did not really enjoy the food, but also tried almost everything out of respect.
