Udara was so helpful with everything. He arranged an incredible dinner for us (his mother cooked) and the breakfast was also awesome. He also played some UNO almost until midnight with us and we talked a lot about stuff in Sri Lanka and Yala especially. The vila is big and beautiful, the rooms are completely soundproof (the massive doors help a lot). Udara also hosts three snakes in a tree in the garden and they are so small and beautiful, and also harmless. He also went with us to a temple nearby and explained the history of it. The villa is gorgeous, plenty of space for the 5 of us. The whoops of joy as our kids explored the place said it all! Private pool, incredible food, attentive staff, wildlife all around. On our first evening, the guides took us to the red sand beach, about a 20 minute walk away. Very beautiful. You walk past a lake with baby crocs, can spot iguanas and other wildlife. Magical. We booked a safari through the hotel, the jeep was comfortable, and very reasonably priced. They packed us a breakfast to take with. The service was outstanding. We didn't want to leave.

The Leopard tent was perfection. We loved our stay, the room is spacious and clean. The surroundings are uniques. Staff was very nice and the dinner was delicious. The safari experience was priceless!

He was so helpful with ongoing travel and brought me to the bus station. Room was spacious and clean, would highly recommend staying in this guesthouse.

Our three-night stay at Mailagama Cinnamon Residence was a delightful and perfectly situated experience for exploring Yala National Park. Raj, the manager, truly made our visit special. He was incredibly helpful, arranging two full-day safaris with an excellent driver and comfortable 4x4 jeep, and even gave us a fascinating tour of the property's cinnamon plantation. The residence's proximity to a quieter entrance of Yala's Block 1, just 30 minutes away, was a significant advantage. Each morning, they thoughtfully prepared delicious and plentiful breakfast and lunch packs, ensuring we were well-fed for our early safari starts. Our top-floor room was spacious, comfortable, and offered stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. With amenities like air conditioning and a TV, it was a relaxing haven after a day of wildlife spotting. Dinners were Sri Lankan food like string hoppers and kottu roti. We highly recommend Mailagama Cinnamon Residence for its outstanding hospitality and ideal location for a Yala safari.

They are kind and generous. As a single female traveller I felt very secure in their compound. I strongly advice you book your safari with your host. He’s a confident driver with a keen eye for leopards. Don’t think saving money will serve you well, take a private tour. The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

Wild Lotus is a lovely family business and exceptional in their consideration of their guests needs. We were a multiple family group with young children and they provided delicious food as requested with consideration to allergies and child friendly meals. We loved the outdoor showers, large rooms and hammocks, and the accommodation was comfortable and clean with fly/ insect screens. We hope to return for a longer stay on our next visit to Sri Lanka.

The best stay in Sri Lanka so far. Priya was so helpful! He sent us the bus schedule from Ella to Tissa, he drove us around the lake to see crocodiles and birds, and bats at a late time, he also arranged the safari in Yala for us for a great price, and prepared an early breakfast before leaving at 4:30. He drove us with his tuktuk when we needed to catch the bus to Tangalle and checked that we had successfully arrived. The room was also cozy and the location of the hotel is not far from the main road.
