Jessica and Peter went over and beyond in warming and welcoming us, from doing the laundry to setting up a fire after dinner time for us to chat and enjoy a drink. We felt so at ease with them, that we ended up sharing memories with Peter over a fire and under a starring night, surrounded by all his wonderful animals. Make yourself a favour and reserve Japie’s Yard when you come visit Swakopmund, you won’t regret it.

This was by far one of our favorite stays while traveling in Africa. The hosts communicated nicely before we arrived, sharing the location and asking us what we were interested in doing while in town. They also gave amazing recommendations for close by food and drinks. The room and outdoor space was nice and spacious, thoughtfully decorated, and felt easy to relax in. The shower was perfect after a day of activities with good pressure and heat. It was a much needed feeling of home after traveling for so long. We came as strangers and left feeling like family! Another part was their recommendation to do a tour of Sandwich Harbor with the tour guide, Gideon. Hands down an amazing experience with fresh oysters, champagne, and good eats while in the middle of the Namib desert. After we expressed a desire to sandboard, he ensured we had an amazing spot and prepared boards for multiple awesome rides. Then we enjoyed a spectacular Braai with everyone and it is something I will remember forever.

By far the most comfortable accommodation we experienced during our trip through Namibia. It’s arranged in such a way that you could practically live there. There was even a fireplace with a built-in grill and firewood ready to use, though unfortunately, we didn’t have time to enjoy it. The property is in a great location on the edge of town, so you don’t have to drive through the center to reach major attractions like Pelican Point or Sandwich Harbour. It’s also close to good restaurants, some are even within easy walking distance. You can also walk to the lagoon.
