I really liked it, I was amazed and fascinated. When I told Hilde, the receptionist and restaurant host, that I was very impressed, she gave me detailed information about the history of this building and showed me photos. There was also a book in the living room, Hilde showed me the part about Silo Hostel, in the book. By the way, Hilde is an extremely kind, smiling and helpful hotel employee. She asked me in the morning if I was comfortable during the night. I said the goose feather pillow was too thin for my neck so she gave me a second pillow so I was extremely comfortable for the next 2 nights. I am a 59-year-old solo traveler, so my biggest concern was finding the transportation vehicle and the location of the hostel after getting off at the airport. I was also worried about whether I would be able to do the self-check-in. Everything was very easy. I took the number 50 bus from the airport. The hotel prepares your daily transportation card in advance anyway. In this case, you get on the bus without paying a fee. When you arrive at the hotel, it is also very easy to check in via Hostel's tablet. In conclusion, everything was perfect. Silo Design & Boutique Hostel Basel was the only hotel I was sad to leave. I loved it very much 🩷

I loved that I received an email from the property with one day before arrival with everything I need to know to get at the hotel. The hotel staff was very professional, the breakfast was healthy and tasty, the room was very comfy. The hotel has a very good location near to the centre. The bus station to the train station is in front of the building. Overall, it was an amazing experience! For sure, next time I’ll pick the same accommodation!

This is one of the best guesthouses I've seen so far. The room that we got had plenty of space, including a kitchen that was the best equipped as possible! We had only one night stay, but that kitchen had every kitchenette that you could possibly think of, including a dishwasher! The hosts are providing you with a few types of coffees and teas, complimentary. Very comfortable beds as well. Fully equipped shared bathroom, but that won't be a bother at all since you're sharing it with only one other room. It's also so easy to get around. There's a direct tram line from the Basel SBB station, or direct bus from the airport. You'll have like 2 minutes walk to get to your room. Also, the hosts are providing you with free Basel pass, so all of the rides around, museum entries, and even the zoo visit will be covered. Hosts couldn't be more kind and welcoming! Whenever I'll get back to this city, this will be my accommodation for sure.

The house was renovated and well maintained. Although the location was a bit farther away, it was easily accessible by public transportation. The hosts offered free early check-in, which we really appreciated, and communication was excellent throughout our stay. They also provided for free cards for public transport. The services were even better than I had imagined: everything was very clean, very efficient and I was provided with all the things that I needed. The location was ideal, some minutes away walking distance from the cental train station as well as from a public transport stop for the city center. The staff was extremely polite with me and amazingly helpful to all the requests of mine. I would totally recommend it and stay there again!

Budget Hotel Alexander is a nice functional hotel with comfortable rooms very close to the good locations. The rooms are very clean and spacious. They have an underground parking spot which is convenient if one reaches Basel by car (payable extra)

This was a very clean, decent hotel and for a pretty good price by Swiss standards. The room was spotless and the bathroom seemed newly renovated with a powerful, warm shower. The location was a 15min walk from old town and around 25 from the sbb which was fine for me but there are trams nearby if you don't fancy it.

Really good location, ideal to cut through into town. Property was spotlessly clean. Good correspondence with the owner, who was very helpful and answered questions promptly. Would highly recommend this place when visiting Basel.
