This is definitely one of the best highlights of our trip to Indonesia. We found this place while we were running away from the most famous Gili T (disaster experience), and luckily this happened! This place is pure magic. The staff is really awesome, kind and extremely helpful. Despite all the other hotels we visited in Indonesia, this one was extremely clean, with an attention to the details that reminds us a 5 stars hotel. You can have delicious lunches and dinners at their place, with a fair variety of food. You can snorkelling in front of the hotel seeing blue corals and different kind of fish (masks and rock shoes are freely available at the property). Highly recommended the snorkelling in the close islands, that despite the touristic attraction of Gili T with dead corals, boat gasoline in the air and huge masses of people, will bring you in completely empty, little and white sanded islands having the opportunity to see variety of fish, sea stars, sea horses and corals (the picture refers to this). Perfect place if you want to retreat yourself, take time to relax and stay away from the chaos. We definitely want to go back to Alam Karang in the future. The staff will definitely be part of us forever: mimpi manis.

The staff were very friendly and good fun. The Bungalow was beautiful and rustic, and the location was great, if you want to be hours away from the city. The volcano's are out of reach if you're staying here, unless you want to ride in a car for hours. Although, as i said, if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle and just relax on the beach, this is perfect.

Gili Gede is lovely. My first time in Indonesia, I headed there directly from the airport. It was a great travel recovery place. Tanjungan is a very small village. A 30-40 minute walk takes you to the bigger two villages at the narrow part of the island (the waist), one on each side of the island, coast to coast walk takes 10 minutes. The accommodation is lovely, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful and the food was very good. It’s a very laid back place - in my 3 days the number of tourists in the village was always in single figures! The two bigger villages, maybe 20 tourists. From here I’d recommend - explore the island on foot, 1 day. Snorkelling private boat trip 1/2 day £11, 3 or 4 islands, blue coral, turtle, views of Mt Ayung on Bali Rinjani in northern Lombok & Kayaking, 1 day (I didn’t have time).

Very friendly staff who made sure we had a wonderful stay. Got upgraded to the Pool-Villa which was amazing. Very good breakfast. The best beach is 15 min walking from the resort to the north part of the island. Here you can be entirely alone.

Villa pao pao was just what we were looking for a fantastic get away for us all the pool was just amazing as was the villa itself , all of the staff were very friendly and did everything to make our short stay even more memorable. , the on-site cafe was great for breakfast lunch and dinner catering for our varied needs my son and I eating local food my wife and daughter going for the more western option. Overall an amazing peaceful and very beautiful place to stay. We will be back soon. A special Thankyou to jatim and achir in the cafe for making our stay so special.
