This hotel is a must do experience! It was exactly as expected and even more. Japanese aesthetic on its best with amazing atmosphere! Both the owner and the hostess were very friendly and helpful with tips about the city. The welcome sake with local sweets it was more than delicious. We loved everything about it! Even better in person than in pictures! The decor is phenomenal, and so fun to look at everything, like a cute, calm museum. We loved the chill room upstairs where there's a huge collection of manga, English DVDs, massage chair. The roof terrace is cute with a view of Kumamoto castle all tiny and lit up. The host is super kind! Very very clean as well, and cute Ghibli music trinkles at the front entrance.

This traditional Japanese-style house is full of character and beautifully designed with great attention to detail. While it’s not a fully private room, the sleeping area is well separated, offering a comfortable sense of privacy. Sounds do carry a bit, as it’s an old house, but the creativity in the space makes each stay feel fresh and inspiring. It’s conveniently located—about 10 minutes by bus to Shin-Suizenji Station and around 15 minutes to central Kumamoto. The nearby “Gootarian” space is also a nice addition. The area has historic spots like Kengun Shrine, perfect for a morning walk. With shops, supermarkets, and convenience stores nearby, it’s easy to grab a bento or snacks and relax at the accommodation. It really feels like staying in a local home. Free parking is a big plus. I prefer not to drive at night, so being able to park and explore by bus has worked out perfectly.
