Set in a rustic-style house only a 10-minute walk from San Pedro Church, Hostal Mamatierra offers rooms with free Wi-Fi in San Pedro de Atacama. The hostel was very cozy and felt very safe and although every room opens up to a common area it still managed to offer enough privacy for comfort. Despite the constant usage of the facilities by all the guests, the staff at mama Tierra managed to keep the kitchen bathrooms and showers in particular incredibly clean. It was very well run, and of course thanks to the lovely staff it was always a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. On top of all of this, they offered a very home stay self serve style breakfast, and packed lunches when you left too early to be able to partake. Lastly, when you book a tour (which they can help with, and I can highly recommend) they will knock at your door when it’s time to set off, which is very welcome for some of the earlier tours. As a testament to how far they will help you, we saw one of the staff, when we left today, wait and attempt to wake up a guest, who most definitely had overslept, over a period of almost 10 minutes to help him get to his tour, and not lose out. I highly doubt most hotels would go to such lengths to aid their guests. To sum up I can whole heartedly recommend mama Tierra for those looking for a moderately budget friendly and very comfortable stay in basically the heart of San Pedro.

We had a great stay at Lodge Don Julio! It's a very cute adobe hotel just next to the main street in San Pedro de Atacama. The rooms face an inner-courtyard that's like an oasis with tables, chairs and hammocks. Our room had a comfortable bed, was super clean, and the shower worked well. There is a nice little breakfast room, and the day we couldn't have breakfast due to a very early tour to the geysers Pamela prepared a boxed breakfast for us. Any questions were promptly answered by WhatsApp. Thanks!
