We expected to have a break there from constant driving of previous days, which we did - just hit some nearby attractions (Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge and Lóndrangar) and took a costal walk to Arnarstapi.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need — it even has a slow cooker and a rice cooker, which is very convenient. We also really appreciate the attention to small details — the curtain in the shower booth to keep dry area dry, the mirror outside the bathroom (so you can do your makeup while someone else is taking a shower), plenty of power outlets including an extra extension cord in the bedroom. Even though the room is on the second floor (this is informed clearly when booking), so carrying luggage upstairs can be a bit tiring, but the staircase is wide and not steep so it is not that hard. The code for the key box and check-in instructions were sent before arrival, and it was very easy to access the apartment. The view of Kirkjufell from every windows is superb!

This is a charming small guesthouse with just a few rooms. Communication with the hosts was quick and efficient and the welcome was extremely friendly. Our room with a great view of the little harbour and the island with the lighthouse was cosy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast (15 € per person) was plenty and tasty. The room rates aren't low but the accommodation offers good value for money. Stykkisholmur with its old traditional houses is a pretty small fishing town well worth a visit.

Served by a lovely lady who prepared everything for us fresh that morning, a beautifully set table in the open dining space. The food was gorgeous, we loved the berry smoothie. We had a very warm welcome, the bedroom was wonderful, the bed was so comfy and we liked the Soley shampoo and gel in the shower! Such a gorgeous little town to stop in, they gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner. We will definitely be back!

Out of 7 times visiting Iceland, we never stopped in Stykkisholmur - this was long overdue. I think we picked the perfect place to enjoy this town, as Monika was an outstanding host. We pretty much had the guesthouse all to ourselves, as a group of 7 people. We enjoyed all the nice touches from the owner, all the little extras like some food in the fridge, 2 types of coffee to choose from in the morning, and the games and books in the living room. We were a bit in a rush to continue our tour and head back to Keflavik the next day, which was our only regret as we could not enjoy the guesthouse a bit longer.

Located 6 km from Stykkishólmur, Helgafell provides a garden and free WiFi. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom. A really nice place with an incredible view across the lake.

We had an amazing stay at this place! The houses are beautifully designed with high quality materials and are perfectly heated, making them super cozy and comfortable. The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning! The host was friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home and the breakfast was simply delicious. The road to get there isn’t the easiest, but it’s absolutely worth it once you arrive. Plus, the sky is dark enough to see the northern lights and we were lucky enough to witness them - an unforgettable experience! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and high-quality stay.
