The location is about a half-hour walk away from the city centre. The staff were incredibly polite and nice. The overall atmosphere is very relaxing, with a huge inner courtyard filled with water and trees. The public bath was not congested at all, was clean and was a perfect way to relax after days full of walking. The view from our corner room was incredible, especially at night. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. Overall, we are very happy with our choice to stay here and getting a king room. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

The old Japanese house was warm and homey and the hosts were kind and welcoming. Two cats were a bonus. Dinner at the Thai restaurant was exceptional and highly recommended! I would be back anytime and ideally would stay for longer!

This is just one train stop from Aso station, so provides easy access to Mt. Aso and the surrounding area. The kitchen is fully equipped (cutlery, pans, condiments, etc) and there is a small grocery store nearby to buy ingredients. Rooms are large, and there is a kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a japanese - style bathroom. The piano in the living room was a great and unexpected bonus. We were passing through and only stayed one night, but it would have been a great base to explore the Aso area and we would have loved to stay for longer.

The house is very beautiful, well renovated with very good taste.Three toilets but only one bathroom.The owner and the staff are very kind and full of service mind. We have barbecue with karaoke , singing and dancing with the best audio equipment..The owner well prepared everything for our group including the heater on the floor. We all very appreciated for the hospitality, will come back again.
