Sahan provided me with a spacious, comfortable, clean, fragrant and bright room. The bathroom is immaculate. It is located a 10-minute walk from the ancient city and rents bicycles to visit it. Sahan is a flexible and friendly person, full of attention and useful advice. He recommended a good hairdresser and an excellent (and trendy) restaurant just a few steps away from the property. As I had to work remotely, I needed excellent Wi-Fi, and here it is truly perfect: I had six hours of video conferencing without the slightest problem. I felt at home and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful site.

The owner was very helpful with arranging a bike rental and safari tour as well as onward transportation. The guesthouse itself is very pleasant.

The rest of the cabin is small but functional. Give yourself a few hours to stay there and watch the animals of the lake. We were braced for clouds of insects, but there weren't many, maybe we got lucky. We also went for the morning lake tour which was fantastic. Excellent breakfast as well. The host was really helpful and easy to get ahold of.

Lovely setting overlooking the rice fields. Short walk to the ticket office and archeological park entrance. The owners were lovely and cooked a beautiful dinner for us (vegetarian curry with rice). The room was very clean and spacious enough for two adults and kids. Monkeys jumping about were a bonus for our toddler !

Ruins villa is a great relaxing place. The host is really nice, the house is in the middle of nature and at the same time really close to the cultural site. You rent bikes to visit around. The food is really good.

Situated in the heart of Polonnaruwa and overlooking the panoramic Parakrama Samudraya, The Lake House provides a peaceful getaway featuring elegantly furnished rooms and free internet access. We loved the charm and character of the place, as well as its fantastic location on the lake. Great at sunrise and sunset. The pool was bracing, but fun with the kids after a morning cycling around temples or an afternoon safari.

The pool is just amazing and you can hang literally (!) between the palm trees. The dinner (curry) and breakfast are just exceptional. You won’t be hungry for a long time! We booked the Polonnaruwa tempel 4 hour tour with an English guide and tuktuk, which we can highly recommend. The manager and his family are all super friendly and helpful in case of questions for next steps of your travel
