She's a great cook with with simple affordable but tasty meals from the small restaurant. She let me keep my soy milk in her fridge, which I really appreciated. This is budget acccommodation with no electricity and solar power for lights in the bungalow. This is an "escape from the rat race" type of holiday destination. An easy walk to both the village and Champagne Beach. My days were spent swimming, kayaking, walking, reading, drawing and more swimming.

The lodge itself has everything you could ask for: on-site hammocks to relax in, a fully functioning shared kitchen with a stove and oven, and kayaks and paddleboards that we used to explore the nearby Riri Bluehole. This accommodation, along with Gaelle’s amazing hospitality, made our first trip and honeymoon in Vanuatu one to truly remember. We will definitely be back and will stay at Matevulu Lodge again without hesitation.

The bungallow is so beautiful, it is situated directly on the beach and has an amazing sea view. They also have a super nice restaurant, with delicious meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Try the chicken Parmiggiana! We really enjoyed the evenings with Vini and Klaas, to talk about interesting topics by a glass of wine. We did the diving at the coolidge, while we stayed at their accommodation and they drove us every time and picked us up. We also went snorkelling, right in front of the bungallow and the reef is pretty decent (we even saw morey eels and lion fish). It grows back slowly after the cyclone.

Remember to shop in Luganville before you arrive - the room is equipped with a bar fridge with little freezer section at the top, and there is a restaurant a short stroll up the road (approx 500m) if the tide is low you can walk along the beach. Highly recommend staying here, everything was perfect!!
