My stay at his capsule hotel style spa was much better than I expected. The facilities are a bit dated but offered an excellent stay nonetheless.

We were so happy that our Japan travel started in Tomariya! The staff is really nice, the bathrooms are clean and very spatious and the surrounding area gives you a really good first insight into Tokyo's amazing mix between busy urban streets and quiet low-scale urban neighbourhoods.

Overall it was a really great value. Most capsule hotels you feel cramped but it was actually very spacious with two types of lighting with a control panel in the room. The locker room made it easy to store luggage. And every night we got a set of pjs and towels. It was really handy and there was an assortment of soaps and toiletries available in the bathroom. There was also a coin laundry at the property! We were able to rest feeling safe and secure in a women only space. And the location is close to Akihabara Station so after a long day of walking and sightseeing we were able to relax quickly once we got back.

This was probably my favorite experience while in Japan. The shared spaces were clean, quiet and very comfortable. They had an amazing bath space and all the staff were very helpful and respectful. The wifi was fast, the food and drink was also great. If you don't do well with sharing space and prefer to have a more private stay then I would avoid but otherwise I would highly recommend. Every guest I came across were quiet and respectful and it's a very relaxing atmosphere. For a solo traveler or for a small group of guys (this is a male only accomodation) this a very affordable and enjoyable place to stay.

All capsule hotels in Funabashi

Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

Facilities are extremely clean, comfortable beds, large locker spaces, and washing areas. Staff were super kind and helpful. Unlimited free drinks are lovely, the milk tea is really delicious 😋 men and women are on separate floors, but it is nice that this capsule hotel can accommodate both genders! The location is also wonderful, only a couple minutes walk from the station which is convenient.

The space was larger then expected and I felt there was room to move. The staff had a verbal Japanese to English translator so it was easy to communicate. They had a beer vending machine and drinks/noodles available at the front desk so you didn't need to leave once you'd checked in.
