I fell in love with this place! The spacious room and common areas are very clean. The balcony offers a breathtaking view. There’s a small kitchenette where you can boil water, use the dishes, and store food in the fridge. Within walking distance, you’ll find a vegetable shop and stores with all the essentials. Simple yet delicious Sri Lankan food is available nearby. The room doesn’t feel hot, so there’s no need for air conditioning. I didn’t even use the fan. It’s a perfect place to relax and recharge after exploring the mountains and local sights. Getting to the center of Kandy is easy: take a tuk-tuk or hop on a local bus, which runs frequently. The host is an incredibly kind, hospitable, and responsive person, always ready to assist with anything you need. You can tell he truly loves what he does. He also has a wonderful dog, which makes the place feel even more welcoming. A pleasant surprise for me was that they sort waste here, which is rare to see. For just $13 a night, you won’t find a better place to stay in Kandy!

Amazing property with super friendly host. The view from the rooms and common area are beautiful. Pretty new and very well maintained. The host and the staff are very accommodating, makes you feel at home. Would totally visit again and definitely value for money.

Special mention goes to the reservation manager, Mr. Sashika, who went above and beyond by offering complimentary transportation to the train station - a thoughtful gesture we weren’t expecting! Overall Experience: ★★★★★ Kandy River Lodge exceeded our expectations in every way. The serene riverside setting provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior experience was outstanding. Final Thoughts This hotel offers a surprisingly tranquil experience that you wouldn’t anticipate from the outside. The combination of the beautiful location, comfortable accommodations, and exceptional service made for a memorable stay. We will definitely be returning to Kandy River Lodge on our next visit to the area and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in Kandy.

A very neat and comfortable accommodation option near Kandy lake. We stayed for two nights. The staff were very helpful and made the stay so much better. The caretaker even stayed up late for us so that we can come back after a night out.

Hands down the best spot during my two-week Sri Lankan trip! This suite offered a spacious, impeccably clean room equipped with modern amenities that made it feel just like home.
