We enjoyed our stay in Casal do Morgado. The pool and terrace are conveniently placed very close to the kitchen so it was easy to eat meals alfresco., especially as there is the sheltered area beyond the pool for when the sun was too hot to sit out in. We particularly appreciated the manager Fernanda, who, very conveniently, lives next door. Once a week she cleaned the house thoroughly and changed and made up all the beds with fresh bed linen and towels. This made it a very relaxing holiday, not having to worry about laundry and cleaning. In addition to this Fernanda frequently popped by to be friendly and helpful, clean the pool or whenever we had any problems at all, she was immediately on hand to remedy the situation. The house is in a peaceful farming area, but twenty minutes drive away is the lovely ancient town of Tomar. Ten minutes away and enroute to Tomar is an extremely popular and beautiful river swimming area, with pools, cafes and lovely board walk. Tomar is well worth a visit, with fantastically well preserved medieval aqueducts, castle and many fascinating things to see, plus an excellent market on the river.

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.
