Our stay at Darwesh Nyumba Lodge was truly unforgettable! The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and fun to talk to—we had great conversations with them throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home. One of the highlights was the fresh, homemade dinner they prepared for us (optional but absolutely worth it). It was hands down the best meal we had during our trip—authentic local flavors, beautifully cooked, and far better than any restaurant we tried. You can really taste the love and tradition in their food! The accommodation itself was very stylish, clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location— 5 mins walking to the beach. The warm hospitality, the amazing food, and the great atmosphere make this place truly special. If you’re looking for an authentic and welcoming experience, this is the place to be!

Location and laid back environment and the staff Lisa especially and happiness too - were just so helpful. Nas the owner is very chilled. Once you get that it’s about really relaxing. Into it and you don’t mind that it’s a good walk on the beach to get nungwi - then it’s perfect. Once you’ve seen nungwi once from here - you ll just love staying on natural beach- walking to the nearby sandbank and not really need to go on again. Lisa will happily call you a boda boda or Tuk Tuk etc if you do want to go at night. Rough road into it - and dark coming back but otherwise this place is quite special

We spent five days at Shamba Lodge while searching for the ideal place to stay in Zanzibar, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. Located in a quiet, peaceful area with no noise, yet just a two-minute walk from the beach, it offered the perfect balance between tranquility and easy access to everything we needed. The location allowed us to reach incredible beaches and enjoy a variety of activities, while still feeling far removed from the crowds. The value for money was excellent. We could walk to stunning beaches on the eastern side of Zanzibar, and the lodge’s team helped us with everything from arranging taxis to making sure we felt comfortable during our stay. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and serviced daily. The breakfast was delicious, and the attention we received throughout was truly outstanding. Special thanks to Amaia and Ali (please, never let him go!) for making our stay so warm and memorable. We genuinely hope to see them again soon.
