Everything was impeccable and the spaces are all very cozy. The private bath was a such a treat. We loved the views from the room and shared spaces as the house is next to the forest. Akira is an awesome host. Even though we stayed here during green (and rainy) season, he gave us lots of recommendations of things to do around the area. He speaks English fluently so communication was very easy. Can’t recommend enough!

Great place! the owner goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and you can feel how things are kept to the highest standard - from the rooms to the facilities. The breakfast is amazing, we had it before a tough hiking day and it kept us going until the evening! It's also incredibly delicious and contains veggies from the garden. We'd like to thank the owner for taking good care of us and helping us have an awesome time. :)

The location next to the bus stop and walking distance to downtown was great. The owner was very patient and helpful and answered my many questions.

Le Bocage – Hakuba Echoland Chalets are situated in Echoland, a popular nightlife site where more than 30 bars and restaurants can be found. The property offers free in-room WiFi and on-site parking. Well equipped, spotlessly clean and large apartment. The apartment is in Echoland which was a little bit out of the way, but in a good way! Charming part of Hakuba to spend a few days. There is a free mini bus/taxi service which we used. Although it was boiling hot, we did walk to the ski lift and had a great day up in the cooler mountains. Quite a few restaurants nearby but make sure you book and eat early! We spent one night wandering around for ages and ended up with a take away pizza! Staff was great - very quick to reply to emails and very friendly with their replies. It was brilliant to have a laundry room right next door too! Also, it was a bonus to have Netflix for our teenage children to watch a film in the evening. Would highly recommend!

Our favourite thing about the property was the wonderful and welcoming host, Yuki. He was extremely helpful and it is thanks to him and his mother that Marushige is run so brilliantly. Our room was traditional Japanese style and extremely cosy - although we were sleeping on futons on the floor we were very warm. The shared bathroom was very clean and all of the other guests were very respectful. The location was perfect for both getting to the slopes on foot, visiting local onsens and getting dinner along the Main Street. One night we had dinner at Marushige and it was fantastic, we ate some very refined local cuisine - they even served us a local delicacy of horse meat sashimi (I have to admit that I could not eat it as I don’t really eat meat but my husband tried it).

The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.
