The chalet was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, with a beautiful natural setting close to the main attractions. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and freshly prepared, making our stay very comfortable. A special mention goes to Mr. Lasantha, who gave us massive support throughout our stay. His warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care made a big difference. Furthermore, he arranges Sri Lankan cooking lessons for foreign guests, which is a wonderful initiative to share our food and culture with the world. What impressed us most is that all of this is offered at an affordable price, and the team works tirelessly 24/7 to give their very best to guests. Overall, Rock Shade Chalet is a perfect place for a peaceful family getaway, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sigiriya.

I am telling you guys! This is like a five-star hotel quality stay! I am travelling around Sri Lanka and this lodge, is the best decision I made! I stay at the double room that is on the second floor. The host welcome me when I arrive and take my life-threatening heavy luggage upstairs. And after I enter the room, I am like,”wooooooooow”. It’s a five star hotel, honestly. The big toilet and bathroom, clean and tidy with everything you needed. The TERRACE! Its fire!!! I could’ve shoot a music video here. All the plants are so well planted and design. That chill afternoon of me sitting in the terrace is going to be imprinted in my memory for as long as possible. I can tell by other guests face as well, when they are sitting on the swing beds in front of their rooms, they are having the best moments. I am fully refresh after a long journey around the island and sigiriya has made it to the list of my most favourite place. The breakfast is amazing !!! The host, he is an angel. He just looks like he had been trained in like top class hotel with all his service and manners. I loved it so much with the breakfast call, the arrangement and introduction for all the amazing activity around sigiriya. I went around the town with the tuktuk the host booked and the driver is friendly af! Showing me all those monkeys explaining the culture in sigiriya before I get to the rock. NO MOSQUITOS AT ALL.

Beautiful clean cool rooms in the jungle, hardly a need for the fan even because the trees and plants keep the rooms so cool. Lovely friendly and helpful family, delicious breakfasts and dinners if you choose to eat there. I highly recommend the home cooked rice and curry, it’s so tasty and the mum will cook it as spicy as you like (I like it spicy and it was so yummy compared to the bland ‘tourist curry’ they serve in a lot of the restaurants in Sri Lanka’) The son even showed me around the area, it really felt like home. Highly recommend!

The owner was incredibly helpful and advised us well on how make the most of our time in beautiful Sigiriya. He happily drove us wherever we needed to go in his tuk tuk which is a real advantage. While there are some parts of the hotel still being built, the rooms are very clean, cozy, and tastefully furnished. The location is within 200 meters walking distance to several restaurants, etc. and the Lion Rock park is only ~5 minutes away

Honestly, the absolute highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka! Out of all 7 weeks in Sri Lanka our 3 nights here were the best, and it was 90% due to this Homestay!!! We felt amazingly at home! Chamika was WONDERFUL. He hiked up to pidurangula with us and brought us surprise coffee in a coconut, and didn’t ask for anything in return! We did a cooking class and ate some of the best food ever, and chamika went to swim in a lake with us! The room was as exactly as described with comfortable beds. The breakfast was amazing everyday and just laying on the rock with a view of the lake was stunning! Overall if I could rate this place 1000 stars I would! Thank you guys so much!

Set amidst a natural landscape, Back of Beyond – Pidurangala offers a peaceful getaway in Sigiriya. I loved the location, being far inside the wilderness. The boulder house we stayed in was very spacious and comfy and gave us an exceptional experience sleeping so close to nature. They had a private open shower in nature and provided hot water, which was amazing given that it was a bit chilly during our stay. The food was exceptionally tasty, and great service, and everyone was extremely welcoming and lovely and enthusiastic to show us around.
