Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

We requested dinner for the evening which was a lovely home cooked meal. We had a great time that evening, enjoying their company. Breakfast was lovely. Must also mention Ash the dog who loves to walk with you.

We originally went for 1 night and ended up staying 3!! That says it all! Our hosts were just gems. Fresh homemade crumpets in the fridge added to the magic. The spa was divine, the view stunning, the place incredible. THANK YOU!!!

ASURE Cooks Gardens Motor Lodge features a garden setting, 600 metres from the CBD and Wanganui Opera House. It offers free on-site parking and unlimited free WiFi access. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed was there and the staff were incredibly friendly and personable. When we arrived the owner was incredibly welcoming and told us places to visit, things to do and where to eat dinner. She was an exceptional host. Would definitely stay again!

Braemar Motor Lodge offers self-catering accommodation just 300 metres from the shops and restaurants in Palmerston North city centre. All rooms include satellite TV and free, high-speed WiFi. We stayed 5 nights and would've liked to stay longer. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable and roomy. There were 3 easy chairs plus a table and 2 dining chairs. Very quiet. We didnt hear anything from the road or other units Clean and bright laundry. $6 to use the machines, washing powder provided, and plenty of space on the outdoor clotheslines. We were given a very friendly welcome and farewell. Look forward to staying again at some stage.

The cabin was new and beautifully furnished. Had all the faculties we needed and was close to town. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
