Amazing hotel with beautiful views of the mountains, we couldn't fault anything with the hotel. Perfectly maintained, the rooms are amazing, comfortable beds and pillows, excellent showers, all the staff was lovely and the breakfast was amazing! Definitely worth staying here!

Converted from an old Estancia just a couple of years ago. Finca el Recreo was a fantastic find. We drove down from Salta to Cafayate and followed the Satnav to the entrance to the estate on the Route 40 just outside the town. Long gravel drive up to the entrance only serves to build the expectations which are more than exceeded when you pull up at the main entrance. A fabulous building which it is difficult to reconcile was a family home until a few years ago. We were greeted with a choice of a class of iced water or a glass of wine from the Vineyard that us still run by the family. Check in complete we were shown to our rooms which were fabulously clean and enormous with 2 double beds in each room with large ensuite bathrooms. No aircon but each room fitted fit large ceiling fans which did a great job. Short walk across the lawn to the good sized pool and sunbed area. Very interesting tour and wine tasting at the Bodega which is part of the property. Simply fabulous.

    Don't miss this town on your Argentine visit. We enjoyed amazing wines, delicious foods and absolutely the most beautiful landscapes. This is not a one day trip. Come for several days, there is so much to see and do here.

    Our visit to Cafayete was incredible.

    Our visit to Cafayete was incredible. The Domos del Viento were an experience in themselves with spectacular vistas, beautiful clear blue skies by days, sunsets over the mountain scapes, and brilliant starlit nights uncluttered by city lights. The Quilmes ruins are meticulously preserved and maintained, and the visitor centre displays function in Spanish, English and other languages. Various wineries have tastings, restaurants and accommodations up and down the valley (if you can’t get a reservation at the Domos). The food in local restaurants varies from simple to sophisticated but always featuring local cuisine and ingredients. The people are welcoming and helpful. And I suppose I should mention that the local Cafayete wines are excellent by the glass and even better by the bottle.

    It's a cute little town with many interesting shops, museum, restaurants and wineries. It has the first wine ice cream boutique in the world. The main square and downtown are easily walkable, but to get to some of the better wineries and goat cheese factory etc you need transportation. Our hotel provided bicycles.

    The route RN68 is a must do, even more beautiful every bend in the road. I recommend having lunch on the terrasse of the Bodega Amalaya & Wine Bar, the view is just amazing and the service/food/wines are great.

    We enjoyed the visit to Piatelli vineyard, a long way there. The place is beautiful, the visit excellent with their bilingual guide. It is rather expensive in my opinion for what it is, and if stopping for a meal afterwards that was gorgeous, but very expensive. CAFAYATE Town is lovely and very safe, plenty of restaurants, best empanadas at The Hornitas, recommended by a local person.

    the only reason to go to Cafayate is the scenery and the wineries. Dining is either OK or very expensive at the high scale wineries. A visit to the goat farm was very interesting and the cheese tasting was delicious

Superb as a base to explore Cafayate or to just buy a bottle of wine and relax after a long bike ride. Super nice couple that run it. Lots of local knowledge and advice on where to go.     Excellent budget hotel. If you don't expect a four star hotel, this is a great place to go to. Perfect location in a quiet street in the centre of Cafayate. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Room had a good size and was quiet. Breakfast was delicious.
