Our host was fabulous. She helped us find trails and checked the weather on the mountaintops to see which hike would be the best for each day. She also helped us find regular bikes to rent easily at the HBF for a half day bike ride along the river. The location was perfect- easy to catch the buses and train!

The hotel is great, all the staff is making their best effort to keep your stay as enjoyable as possible. Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable.     The perfect Zillertal base — charming, active, and full of alpine character. Mayrhofen is a gem in the heart of the Zillertal Alps — both lively and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. My favorite spot in town was the central square with the iconic ibex statue and the beautiful alpine church, perfect for soaking in the mountain vibe. I enjoyed traditional Tyrolean meals at local guesthouses, and the hut-style restaurants in the surrounding mountains are worth the hike. Breakfast at my hotel was exceptional, and the Zillertal beer is a must-try after a long day outdoors. Getting around is easy — everything in town is walkable, and the Zillertalbahn train makes exploring the valley simple. For solo travelers like me, Mayrhofen is ideal: scenic hiking trails start right from town, there’s an excellent pool & spa complex (Erlebnisbad), and plenty of cafés and beer gardens to meet people or just relax. Whether you’re here for a few days or as a base for adventures like the Berliner Höhenweg, Mayrhofen delivers both comfort and authentic alpine atmosphere.

    I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years.

    I've been to Mayrhofen many times over the years. On top of the magnificent views and mountains, I always recommend it particularly on the size of the town. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels in the centre, which give plenty of options if you ever should get a bad weather day. If you are there for a few days, the Active Card is well worth getting. It includes all lifts, train and buses in the valley, so you can get about easily, trying other towns in the valley, without thinking of additional cost.

    The ski area has a good range of slopes for novice/intermediates. If you are a total beginner there are better areas to start your skiing adventures. The best slopes in our opinion are a few runs and ski lifts away from the ascent via the Penkenbahn but are so worth it. Ahorn is good for an easy accessible confidence boost run or 2 and has some fun areas for the children. Hintertux glacier is a good day out and free bus available but can be super busy. We flew in to Innsbruck and then took the train to Mayrhofen for the first time and it was super easy and good value.

    This was my 3rd visit to Mayrhofen over the last 20 years...

    This was my 3rd visit to Mayrhofen over the last 20 years and it has grown and the lift access has improved vastly. Had a very relaxing holiday and there are plenty shops and cafes/restaurants to choose from in the evening. There is a Deli across from the Penkan lift that does the most delicious smoked ham sandwich, you know it is good when you see the lines of people there in the evening.

    I've been coming to Mayrhofen for 40 years, both summer and winter. Winter, as much for walking as I have for ski-ing. I've tried other Austrian towns over the years, but this place just hits the spot for a holiday. The town is deceptively large, enabling you to find places to go on a rainy day, but still retains that cosy feel with excellent coffee stops and restaurants. Excellent linked public transport, which allows many adventures. I still haven't travelled along all the side valleys. Views from the top, are simply stunning.

    absolutely great location, ski bus next to hotel and mayerhofen center with shops cafes and restaurant just 15 minutes walk. apartment 210 was excellent, one of the nicest we ever had, perfect for 2-3 people, very well equipped. apartament 320 was a bit worse as had no proper sitting / living space, just a table in the corridor. still overall impression was good, especially for location. also sauna was available, but it was in the other building, ca 300 m away.

    Very friendly staff at check-in and generally a really nice little hotel at the start of the "strip".. ie. the street with all the restaurants and pubs, and of course the "Penkenbahn"... the gondola liftoff spot for the Mayrhofen ski resort. Breakfast is tops (as is normal in Austria) with fresh "Semmeln" almost still warm from the local bakery. Love coming back year after year with the family! Mayrhofen is world class

    - the hotel has everything a ski traveller needs, like a bar, restaurant, spa and swimming pool - the hotel is friendly, and the management clearly tries to please the guests with small extra's - the spa is nice, with an adult section and a family section - there's a coffee and tea making facility in the room - the food in the restaurant is very good quality

    Location was brilliant for Penken and Ahorn ski lifts. You get passes to the spa in Hotel Strauss which are one of best in town. 3 balconies and 2 lovely bathrooms plus extra toilet. Rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
