This hut is privately run by a family from Nepal. Our stay there felt so very peaceful, and the food was lovely. The location is absolutely beautiful. Really enjoyed being there. We hiked down to Hallstatt from there, and the trail was very well maintained and offered amazing views.

Super Haus. Recommended. Clean, dry, warm, cozy. As if you were visiting your mother or grandmother. There is a shared kitchen for 4 rooms with a kettle, refrigerator, dishes... Beautiful view from the window. Birds sing in the morning. The Haus has its own parking lot and it is ideally located near the main attractions in a quiet and very beautiful place next to the train station. In the evening, there is a small bar downstairs. 5 minutes from the Haus is the pier, from where the Holstatt boat departs (17.5 euros roundtrip ticket with a short sightseeing tour). Next to the pier there is a wonderful park and an equipped beach (shower, toilet, cafe, changing rooms). 5 minutes by car is the cable car to the ice cave and 5 fingers. QWe dream of going back there!

The property is ideal if you have car, otherwise you will take the boat from the property to Hallstat which is also part of the adventure of experiencing the lake, In our case, I rented a car from Vienna, Austria. From the property is just like around 10mins driving coast of the lake to Hallstat, enough parking space which in our case is we paid 12euro for parking which is good for two days in Obertraun area only. Clean and quite place, cozy, breakfast which is 15euro per head is worth it. I will definitely comeback on the same accommodation if there is a chance..wifi is strong by the way.

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

    Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.

    Beautiful town as if directly out of fairytales... Good option to stay when visiting Hallstatt... Queiter...serene..cheaper accomodation compared to hallstatt...good connectivity to reach hallstatt.

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story!

    Very very beautiful place, it just like fairy tales story! Even we missed the bus to go to Hallstatt, just chilling on this river side it was still a very good moment and experience. The swan came to eat my shoes btw.

    We liked Obertraun because it was an easy 40 minute walk to...

    We liked Obertraun because it was an easy 40 minute walk to Hallstatt and after spending a day there, we could get away from the crowds and numerous shops for some peace and quiet in Obertraun. Obertraun has unobstructed views of the beautiful mountains. We didn’t particularly like having only one restaurant in Obertraun open for meals. Thank God the pizzeria had a variety of decent food as we had to eat there on both nights.

    Obertraun is great spot for tourists and people who like...

    Obertraun is great spot for tourists and people who like hiking in Dachstein area. The town itself is not so big and crowdy. There is one supermarket and only few restaurants in the town but Hallstatt and other towns are not far away by car. Close proximity to Hallstattersee is also big benefit for summer swimming or walking along the lake.

    Obertraun was a lovely option for us- we had 2 motorcycles and a car which were no issue parking immediately across from Haus Bellevue. We took the little electric powered boat across to Hallstatt which was a lovely way to arrive there. Can use bus too. The local resort at Obertraun was handy for the minimart at their reception too. The 2 bed apartment was huge with big bedrooms too and nice deck. Right next to the train station - no noise issues and handy too. Just sorry we only stayed one night. Good comms from Andrea.

    Location is nice close to hallstatt and krippenstein skiresort. It is very modern the houses and has lots of equipment. Altough it was the holiday season (christmas) usually all markets are closed in austria. but there was a small shop near reception where we could buy stuff which was convenient. friendly staff. it is very close to the halstätter lake walk there is nice.

    The hotel is 2 stars, but I think it should be given more. Much better than the hotels in Hallstatt, and I am glad that I chose this hotel. The girl Marina at the reception and the guy were very kind, ready to help. Thanks to them. The location of the hotel is very good, the view of the lake is just cosmic. Quiet cozy place. Breakfast is sufficient.
