Fantastic views, location, atmosphere, service and staff!! We had a room with a view to the lake and it was amazing to wake up and see it every morning or relax on the terrace at the end of the day. The location is top - 7 min from the center and the lake promenade, so a pleasure to walk out for dinner but tucked away from the town noise. The lift and bus stop are also a minute away. The summer card is a big plus. The rooms are cosy, clean, every detail is well thought of and comfortable. The breakfast is lovely, nutritious and delicious! The chef remembered our choice and made sure we got the kind of omelette we liked. Elena came to welcome us in our own language the first day and was kind company every morning. Lilly was gentle and delicate and quietly made sure to remember our coffee choices and made sure we didn’t have to ask. By the fifth day we noticed the lively and homey atmosphere spread even between the guests. In the evening the pool was wonderful for me and the sauna really hot, I appreciated it after a long day on the mountains. And finally, our hosts Elisabeth and Stefan - so welcoming, efficient and kind!! My communication with Elisabeth was like I was connected to the lamp gene from the Aladdin fairy tale! The moment I touched the chat screen with a question or a request Elisabeth would magically appear like a gene and sort it for me! I don’t think i have seen anyone so easygoing, open and hardworking at the same time! I can imagine why many of their staff had been with them for 15+ years and why guests love them. So many things made us feel warm and relaxed, at home! Thank you!

Clean & spacious. Friendly staff, very accommodating and willing to help with all our request. Easy check-in and check-out. Staff offered room upgraded and early check-in. Free coffee from coffee machine at reception. Hotel provide the card that allow us to access many attractions for free. Room is very clean and plenty of space. Comfy bed. Well-equipped kitchen. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Traube in Zell am See, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The location is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views of the lake and mountains that can be enjoyed from the comfort of our room. The accommodations were cozy, modern, and impeccably clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring. The hotel's amenities are top-notch. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a delicious variety of fresh local produce, pastries, and hearty options to fuel our adventures. Zell am See itself is a gem, with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. Whether hiking, skiing, or simply strolling around the charming town, there’s something for everyone. Mountain Paradise in Salzburg Province

A paradise in the Austrian state of Salzburg, Zell am See is located along the shores of the Zell Lake and surrounded by mountains like the 2000-metre high Schmittenhöhe. It is an important ski centre in the winter and a hiking and mountain-biking paradise during summer.

The area has been occupied since Roman times, but the village was founded around the year 740 by the order of Bishop Johannes I of Salzburg. The picturesque Old Town includes typical Alpine style buildings, as well as the oldest building of the region, St. Hippolyte's Church. The Austrian area of Zell am See offers a wide range of hotels, B&B’s, apartments, and guest houses.

The leisure centre has a covered pool, a sauna and steam bath, and special facilities for kids. Zell am See is a gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park, the biggest of the Alps and Austria’s oldest.

Would advise when booking accommodation that you book somewhere that includes the summer card as this gives you free access to all the gondolas in the area and free travel on local buses and trains plus discounted entry to many activities and saves you a lot of money.

    You can see a lot of facilities with the summer card. A lot to do for families ( hiking, cycling, rafting, bathing, swimming, sightseeing,visiting museums ). The food and drinks in restaurants are expensive, so it’s better to have food included in the hotel price or buy it in the store.

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and...

    It's the right midpoint between the regions of Leogang and Saalbach-Hinterglemm, if you are into mountain biking, and the Grosser Donnerkogel, if you are into via ferratas. Being in Zell am See gave us the possibility to do multiple things withing a 1h driving radius.

    Zell am See is rightly popular because it is uperbly located on the most beautiful lake, with mountain scenery that changes with the light throughout the day. it is also makes an excellent centre for touring. special mention must be made of the Kaprun Glacier and the Kaprun Reservoir. Simply unmissable.

    Views of the lake with the best mountain backgrounds are from the other end of the lake - the most northerly. We didn't do it, but it looks like a good place to hire bikes or electric bikes to see more of the lakeside.

    Zell am See is a beautiful place and we have stayed there...

    Zell am See is a beautiful place and we have stayed there many times over 40 years. We were unaware that the week we chose this trip was a mid season break and nearly all facilities and services in the town were closed. It was like a ghost town, with limited amenities and very few visitors. WHY WERE WE NOT TOLD THIS BY THE HOTEL WHEN WE BOOKED!!!!!!

    Very clean and comfortable room.. The photos on booking.com 100% reflect what we found. Fully equipped kitchenette. Sauna available everyday, Bus stop in front of the building entrance. The ski bus ran on limited days but you could take another bus to the ski bus. Very nice owner, told us the history of the house and family. House located in a quieter part of Zell am see but it depends on who prefers what.

    A lovely traditional Austrian house with apartments. Spacious room with comfy beds. A short walk from shops, bars and the ski bus. Ideally located for the train station. Some reviews mention road noise but we did not find this intrusive and it’s excellent value for what you get.

    An old but cosy hotel in the middle of Zell am See. The bunk bed for the kids looked nice and was very comfy. The mattresses in other beds were very good. The room was very clean, breakfast very good. The hotel is located within walking distance to the City Express ski lift.
