The tram system it appears is free. We decided to take a trip into the Adelaide Hills to the German village of Hahndorf which is very pretty with lots of cafes and boutique style shops. We purchased two metro cards from a newsagents for $30 which took us to and from Hahndorf which we thought was very good value with buses running quite late. You could also just use a credit card to board the bus which may have been an even cheaper way of going as it was $5 for the card, $5 there and $5 back. We also took a walk through the city and arrived at the Botanical Gardens where we spent a Sunday morning. Adelaide is a great city with exceptional food and wine. The best restaurants are in the city centre. O'Connell Street, North Adelaide restaurants need improving. We went for the Semi final between Hawthorn and the Crows and the hotel was only an 8 minute walk from Adelaide Oval.
