The tram system it appears is free. We decided to take a trip into the Adelaide Hills to the German village of Hahndorf which is very pretty with lots of cafes and boutique style shops. We purchased two metro cards from a newsagents for $30 which took us to and from Hahndorf which we thought was very good value with buses running quite late. You could also just use a credit card to board the bus which may have been an even cheaper way of going as it was $5 for the card, $5 there and $5 back. We also took a walk through the city and arrived at the Botanical Gardens where we spent a Sunday morning. Adelaide is a great city with exceptional food and wine. The best restaurants are in the city centre. O'Connell Street, North Adelaide restaurants need improving. I like the easy of parking, as well as the ease of getting around the hotel - 3 lifts means you don't have to wait long to get to the area of the hotel you wish to go.
