We stayed at Beechworth House on our road trip from Queensland down to Victoria, and it was the perfect peaceful stopover. The grounds are beautifully maintained, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere right from the moment you arrive. The suite was luxurious, with an incredibly comfortable bed, spotless (immaculate) cleanliness, and every amenity you could need in the room and throughout the property – to make the stay feel truly welcoming and thoughtful. One of the highlights was the lovely walks you can take straight from the accommodation, and it's just a 5-minute drive into the charming town of Beechworth. The owners were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. This place is easily in my top 3 accommodations ever, and we will definitely be returning to Beechworth House for a longer stay next time. An exceptional find – highly recommend!

We have visited this lovely town many times, the heritage buildings, lovely shopping and great eateries and pubs make it one of our favourite destinations for a short break. The surrounding area is also wonderful- wineries, charming small towns like Yak and Stanley, and lovely streetscape and old trees and lovely parks, plus Lake Sambell, it has it all!

old buildings evoke the charm of yesteryear cafes with seating on the footpath gives it a feel of Melbourne and its cosmopolitan atmosphere loves the old prison etc etc etc cafes good knick knck shops deightful

Beechworth is a charming older town on the gold trail.

Beechworth is a charming older town on the gold trail. They’ve preserved so many of the heritage buildings with excellent signage explaining the history. There is a mix of welcoming pubs, quirky breweries and cute cafes. It’s well set up for visitors and locals alike. The countryside has outstanding natural beauty and residents take pride in presenting lovely homes and gardens. We enjoyed the Spring Gorge walk from our villa although the bridge is still closed from flood damage in May 2025. Woodshed Falls were also pretty even in the dry weather.

Beechworth is a fantastic immersive experience into the...

Beechworth is a fantastic immersive experience into the past. All the town, shops, buildings capture the essence of the past. It's easy to feel you're back in the 1800's. People are friendly and happy to chat. So much to do from strolling through the town centre to a walk around Lake Sambell. There are a number of wineries nearby. Visit Beechworth Honey, The Brewery right in town for a great meal and a huge variety of beers. Check out Last Street Brewery for an unforgettable experience tasting endless yummy cordials as well as alcoholic liqueurs. There's a cafe attached and lots more to peak your interest. Looking forward to a return visit so we can see more of Beechworth and the surrounding areas.

Wonderful area for those interested in early australian...

Wonderful area for those interested in early australian history. Pity local council doesn't promote it more eg.Old tannery site etc. They seem to be preoccupied with push bike riding.locals are very friendly and welcoming.

Couldn’t really have asked for more from this property! Cabin was spotless (much cleaner than we have experienced in some 5 star hotels!) and the staff were so warm and helpful - they even posted us something we left behind which was so helpful. Some of our family had kids with them and the playground, mini golf course and other sports equipment was a big hit. We had our lovely dog with us and the property was very dog friendly, though please note you are not able to leave your dog in a cabin unattended at any time.

We’ve stayed in Beechworth many times and Golden Heritage is our favourite motel. The rural view from the king suite is spectacular. The room is very comfortable and has everything you need for a couple of nights. The large shower rose is a winner. It’s a short drive into town but we prefer the 15 minute walk which gives us the chance to checkout the lovely old homes along the way. We finally got to have a meal at the Stanley pub. It’s quirky and beautiful and the meals are delicious!
