Really enjoyed visiting Newcastle, the locals were friendly, had some great meals at the restaurants in Adamstown shops, just a short walk from the Cosmo Motel. Beach like atmosphere with great beaches close to town. Lots of great corner Aussie pubs in each suburb. What pleasure to sit/walk and observe the Hunter River from the Newcastle foreshore. Delightful beaches are in easy access. So too Newcastle inner-city area. Stockton (on the northside of the river is worth an excursion and reminder to "old" Newcastle. Lovely beaches, amazing pubs all in short walking distance from Arvia accommodation. Parking was very secure at location and walking distance to many shops, cafes, pubs etc. Love visiting Newcastle for the op shops, so many to choose from in each suburb. Newcastle city is very run down and neglected.
Newcastle city is very run down and neglected. There is a lot of graffiti on the derelict buildings along the wharf. I would not consider it a holiday destination. If you are going for a specific reason then stay on the beach front as it is very nice. Nelson Bay is a better holiday destination.Guest review byWendy
